Part 42

Y/N POV-

Kate- this is where your Avengers journey began
Y/N- a bar?
Kate- this bar is special, you met Wanda Maximoff here. A girl you'd eventually fall deeply in love with
Y/N- I was here the other night, I don't know why but something pulled me here
Kate- good.

We walked in and sat in the exact seats, spending a couple hours here. My head starting to hurt as small glimpses of memories popped up.
Kate- let's go
We take the short walk to an apartment block and head up the stairs. Apartment 4C.
Kate- this is yours
She hands me a key and I unlock it, I didn't know how but I knew the door stuck. Lifting the handle slightly as the door flung open.
Kate- you remember
Y/N- what's happening?
Kate- Hydra suppressed your memories of this, they wanted your powers and the fight you have but not the side of you that cared. Your memories are coming back, it's going to be painful
Y/N- I don't want them
Kate- you've got no choice.

We kept going, Stark Tower soared into the sky as we looked up at it. Heading to the old Hydra facility on the outskirts of New York, the memories of training came back.
The next destination was down to me, we had to go to my home.
Kate- take a deep breath and think about it, you know where it is
Y/N- okay I can do this.
And just like that, the house stood tall in front of me. I became fully aware of my surroundings, the scents that filled the air and the faint noise of birds chirping.

Fragments kept coming back. Flashes of people's faces or feelings towards someone but it wasn't enough, I couldn't work it out.
Kate- I know it's overwhelming but you can talk to me, I'm here to help
Y/N- everything I know is a lie, I was told I was Virtue. No friends or family but a job I was good at. Something I could do without worrying but now, I don't know who I am. There's this Y/N person or the ghost or Virtue, who am I really?
Kate- that's for you to figure out, I'm just here to help. That's enough for today, let's get you some rest.

*2 months later*

I felt like myself again. The memories weren't just pieces anymore, they had become whole. The feelings there alongside the knowledge.
The avengers still hadn't seen me, Kate kept me hidden as it was best to. Sooner or later, she was going to let me see them and I agreed for her to be there with me.

Kate- today's the day
Y/N- what? No, I'm not ready
Kate- you have been ready for a while now.
Y/N- what happens if they don't believe me? I can't prove anything or do anything for them to believe me, I don't even know half of the things
Kate- hey, I'll be there. I will help you with all of this and I promise you, I'm not going anywhere
Y/N- thank you

We took a steady drive to the compound and got buzzed in. She'd arranged the meeting but didn't tell me exactly what had been said.
I was stood there in a leather jacket and baseball cap, sunglasses on as well. Part of me didn't want to be recognised because I knew it had been so long.
My injuries had healed but the scars were there, ones I couldn't even tell when they were from.

The door opened as we were buzzed in, Kate striding in first as I slowly followed behind. She rounded the corner and I stopped, they were all sat there.
Wanda- Kate?
Kate- hey yeah it's me
Wanda- if you're looking for Sonny then she's not here anymore
Kate- I know
Tony- so why are you here?
Kate- come out here now

Narrator POV-

You steadied yourself and calmed down, Kate had taught you a few techniques to use in case this happened.
All eyes were on you as you walked in, Natasha standing up immediately.
Wanda- no...
You took of the hat and glasses. Everyone's eyes met your gaze, the feeling was overwhelming. These people felt familiar to you but you could place all of them, you knew who you wanted but you couldn't see them

Nat- You're alive
Y/N- I...um...yeah
She runs over and wraps her arms around you, a flinch from you and she lets go holding her hands up, a sign she was sorry
Kate- she's not going to hurt you Y/N
Y/N- I want Peter
Tony- okay yeah, I'll call him
You were showed to the meeting room and left you there with Carol, the others staying outside to talk.

Wanda- what happened to her?
Kate- they brain fucked her, took the memories of you lot away and gave her ones which meant she hated you. We've been working for a couple months to get as much back as possible but I can't do anymore
Wanda- thank you
Kate- I've got her on a regular schedule, I've put it in here as well as everything we've tried and the things she went though at Hydra.
Bruce- I'll take that

The whole time, Natasha hadn't taken her eyes off you. She was over the moon but distraught at the same time
Steve- you were right
Nat- she's gained muscle, her hair is different now and i'm certain she's way taller now
Steve- she was experimented on, they made her something else
Nat- does she remember much?
Steve- according to this, we will be lucky if she remembers our names

The tears roll down her face as Steve wraps an arm around her. Y/N looks around and makes eye contact with Nat, a small smile appears on your face and Nat waves to you.
A childish giggle escapes your lips and Nat's face lights up. She wasn't going to let you leave her side.

Nat- do you remember me Y/N?
Y/N- I know who you are and I have these memories of things but they aren't all complete, I'm sorry
Nat- as long as you know me, that's the best start.
