Part 44

Y/N POV-

I had kept my distance from everyone for a few days, I liked to work out early and would often see the others watching.
It didn't bother me one bit and it was nice to have others around but I didn't feel like I fit in here anymore, they were heroes. I'd become a villain with what I did for Hydra.

Today I was working on the range, I had me of the best shots here. Obviously Clint was incredible with his Bow but with a rifle, no one could challenge me.
I set up the targets at different distances and in different areas.
Checking the wind speed and other potential factors, I hit the targets at 500m and 1000m with ease. I clipped the outside of the 1500m first time before realising someone was there.
Clicking the safety on, I turn around.

Nat- you've got a good shot
Y/N- thanks
Nat- don't let me distract you
Y/N- if you wanna watch then sit with me, use those binoculars
She did as I said and watched as I lined up for the 1500m again, this time hitting it dead centre as the target exploded.
Nat- impressive
Y/N- it gets better.
I change the load and use a bigger round. It would have a better impact from the distance we were at.
2000m was a shot I'd never hit before but I wanted fo impress so here goes nothing.
I follow my routine and aim, breathing in and then out, squeezing the trigger as the bullet flew out the barrel of the gun.
The target decimated into hundreds of shards as the bullet erupted in impact. I felt the smile cross my face as Nat watched.

Y/N- what did you think?
Nat- I've never seen a bullet do that before
Y/N- it's one of my own
Nat- can I?
I hand her one and she inspects it, asking questions about the size and how the weight doesn't correspond with what she expected.
Nat-how?
Y/N- that's for a genius to know and an idiot to never
A gentle punch to my arm as I fight the urge to flinch away, she can see it in my eyes and holds her hands up

Nat- I'm not going to hurt you, I promise you're safe now.
Y/N- I'm never going to be safe, they'll come after me sooner or later.
Nat- then we will be here to protect you.
Y/N- nothing can stop them, cut one head off and two more grow in its place

She goes to reply but we get interrupted.
Steve- mission time, head inside
Nat stands up and I don't move, thinking nothing of it
Steve- you coming kid?
Y/N- oh yeah sure

The meeting room is full when we walk in, I let Nat take the last chair and I stand at the back watching.
Tony- listen up, I'm gonna ask a question and I need a straight answer here. Who here is the best over long distance to take a target down?
Steve- what?
Tony- okay so the target will be 1800m away, we need someone to take a shot and render them incapacitated so Shield can interrogate them
Nat- there's a long shot
Clint- I could try but it's longer than I've ever done before
Y/N- I'll do it

They all look at me, I'd been standing in the quiet and hadn't said a word to most of them recently
Tony- so she does speak, didn't realise that was possible
Y/N- she also knows how to shut people up
Nat- okay calm down both of you. Can you do this?
Y/N- I'd need a map and a 3D hologram of the area, full weather conditions and an extra hand.
Tony- I can give you all of that
Y/N- how long have I got?
Tony- 2 days.
Y/N- easy

Without another word, I leave the meeting room. I go and pack up my rifle and return it to its storage area. I fill the cabinet back with my bullets and lock them, a coded lock so no one can take them.
Wanda- hey
I turn around to see her leaning against the door frame, gazing towards me. Her eyes shining in the light and a small smile covers her face.
Y/N- you don't think I can do this
Wanda- I didn't say that
Y/N- you thought it
Wanda- you shouldn't read people's thoughts
Y/N- it's hard when there isn't an off switch, I can't sit with everyone because I can hear everything
Wanda- I can help you with that
Y/N- Hydra couldn't, just gave me some head plate which blocked it

I turn back and finish packing up, I can hear her getting closer as her palm now rests on my shoulder
Wanda- relax, it's only me
Y/N- it's been a while since someone touched me without hurting me
Wanda- none of us are going to hurt you here
Y/N- I'm more scared of hurting you all
Wanda- you won't, I know you won't
Y/N- last time we fought I shocked you and then injected you with something
Wanda- yeah okay so that wasn't cool but I'm fine
Y/N- I don't trust myself
Wanda- but I trust you.
Y/N- then trust me enough to know I can do this mission without worry
Wanda- okay, just make sure you get some rest soon. I know you've been getting up way too early.

It was time for me to start preparing. I only needed somethings from Stark and the rest I could sort myself.
It was time to use J.A.I to his full ability and get this simulation ready for action.
