Champagne problems

It was a shock to you how within the space of a week your world could turn upside down. What started off as just a normal week turned into one straight from hell that left you grasping for anything that would keep you afloat.

Sunday evening you were with Steve, he was going away to Europe to help an old friend of his after her building in Sokovia got damaged after a gas leak.

"I wish you didn't have to go away" you sigh your head resting on his chest as his hand rubbed you arm absentmindedly.

"I know, the cell service there is terrible too, but It'll just be a week plus if you keep your end of the bargain when I get back it'll be just you and me" Steve says kissing the top of your head.

That was the plan, while he was away you would leave your husband and get everything sorted between the two of you so that you and Steve could have a proper relationship finally. You were dreading it but at the same time you couldn't wait any longer.

The first couple days of the week went by without much really happening, you hadn't had the chance to talk to your husband though. Every night he would get in late and go straight to bed and be up and gone before you even woke up. It was Wednesday though and no matter what you would do it tonight, just rip off the Band-Aid.

As you walked into work that morning you could feel everyone's eye on you, you tried to ignore it, not pay attention to how their conversations would quickly go quiet as you walked past only for the whispers to start as soon as they thought you were out of ear shot.

When you get to your floor you see your assistant Olivia stand quickly.

"(Y/N), hi how are you?" she asks stopping you, a nervous tone in her voice.

"I'm good thank you, is everything okay everyone seems to be acting odd" you ask glancing round to see everyone else quickly advert their gaze.

Olivia looks back at you shocked and you could see her desperately trying to find the right words.

"uh I don't know" she stammers, you raise a brow not entirely sure if she was lying or not.

Choosing not to be the big scary bossy woman you let it slide and walked into your office. When you walked in you could see the owner of the company sat at your desk, a stern expression on his face and his arms crossed. You were taken aback slightly, you didn't know he was coming in today he normally just left you to run the show, and Olivia didn't prep you.

"(Y/N), take a seat" he says gesturing to the seat opposite him, the ones usually reserved for people you were meeting not the other way around.

"I'm sorry I wasn't aware you were coming in today, apologies if I've kept you waiting" you apologise quickly moving to sit down.

The owner, your one and only boss, looked over at you his expression not wavering from his stern scowl.

"What does this company stand for?" he asks you, you pause for a moment surprised by his question.

"well we want to make the world a better place for everyone and everything that lives on this planet, by helping charities and organisations" you tell him.

He nods his head slowly "so what on earth is this?" he states grabbing a newspaper and slamming it on the desk in front of you.

As you look at it you see you face on the front cover, confused you pick up the newspaper and start reading the headline and article. As you do you feel your heart drop, as allegations that you made charities pay large sums of money to get your company's help. You look back at your boss shocked to see him sat there anger clear on his face.
