Heart of Gold - Steve Rogers x Reader

Warnings: Fluff!!!

Life being a working parent is never easy. Life as a working parent whose job it is to save the planet on a regular basis definitely isn't easy. But you and Steve made it work. You took it in turns to go on missions, only going on low risk ones to ensure the both of you were around for your son, James.

This time it was Steve's turn to stay at home while you went away on a mission. You were only away for a day, so Steve and James had a father and son day. Spending the day out in the back yard playing whatever game James wanted to play.

By the afternoon James was exhausted, falling asleep on couch while watching a movie. Steve took the time to get stuff done around the house, making sure you came home to a clean and organised house. One that you could relax in immediately.

He was just folding some laundry in your bedroom when he heard the front door open. A few minutes later Steve heard you walking up the stairs turning around to see you appear in the doorway a tired look on your face.

"I'm fine, just tired" you tell him before he even gets the chance to ask.

"I know, just c'mere" Steve says with a sympathetic smile holding out his arms.

You trudge across the room walking into Steve's arms. You buried your face in his chest as he wrapped his arms around you tightly, kissing the stop of your head.

"What do you wanna do?" Steve asked quietly.

"Sleep" you mumble into his chest.

"Okay c'mon then" Steve smiles quickly picking you up before laying down on the bed, you curled up besides him.

Steve held you securely as you lay across his chest, telling him about the mission. Eventually falling asleep in his arms. Steve kissing the top of your head as you slept.

He glanced over at the time and saw that it was getting close to dinner. But when he glanced down at you and saw how relaxed you now looked, he couldn't bring himself to wake you or leave your side. He'd just order something in instead.

Unbeknownst to him, your son with a heart of gold was already downstairs 'helping' by sorting dinner out. Creating a whole lot of chaos and mess that thankfully you weren't mad about when the two of you stumbled across it later.
