Pumpkin Explosion - Andy Barber x Reader

Warnings: none just fall fluff

In Andy's eyes you and him couldn't be more different. If he had to assign a time of the year he would be winter. But not December, when everyone is happy and jolly for the lead up to Christmas and new year. He was January, the month were seasonal depression hits and everyone's mood reflected the crappy weather.

You however, Andy saw you as spring and summer. You loved pastels and bright colours. He loved seeing you in the summer dresses you loved so much. Even when the temperature grew colder you still kept that spring time air about you.

"Hey Andy?" you say walking into the kitchen as he made a cup of coffee.

"Yeah honey?" He asks passing you a cup of coffee.

"Do you mind if I put up a few Halloween decorations?" You ask him almost hesitantly.

"Yeah of course, this is your house too now honey you don't need to ask permission" Andy smiles walking over so he could kiss the top of your head.

"I know but-" you start but Andy interrupts.

"But nothing, I can't wait to see what you do" Andy smiles.

"Okay, what time will you be home tonight?" You ask as Andy moves to shrug on his suit jacket.

"I'll try and leave early, but maybe 6ish?" Andy says finishing off his cup of coffee.

"Okay I'll see you later" you smile passing him a piece of toast knowing he wouldn't have eaten yet.

"See you later" Andy smiles kissing you before taking a bite of toast and heading out.

Once he was gone and you'd finished your cup of coffee you set about getting your decorations out of storage. Making the most of your day off decorate the house.

Andy made good on his promise getting out of work early. He wasn't sure what he was expecting, he never really got into the whole decorating part of the holidays. Maybe getting a jack-o-lantern or a Christmas tree but that was it.

Whenever he'd visited you before you moved in he couldn't recall you decorating much. Plus you seemed more like a spring or summer person so you probably weren't really into Halloween anyway.

So he was surprised when he approached the house at how much you'd actually done. There was a sign at the bottom of the path warning people of witches, poisons and magic. In a couple of the bushes there were wizard of oz style witch legs sticking out the stop of them. On the steps were pumpkins and pumpkin plant pots and witches hats hanging from the porch.

As he opened the door the first thing he could smell was pumpkin spice and other warm autumn scents. He put his keys down and noticed that the usual key dish had been swapped out for a bat shaped one.

As he walked down the hall towards the kitchen he spotted more and more decorations. A little skeleton sat at the bottom of the stairs. A ghost on the bathroom door. Some pumpkin bunting hanging over the mirror.

He walked into the kitchen but spotted you stood by the fireplace in the adjoining living room. You were humming to yourself as you hung up a banner that spelt out happy Halloween.

"Hey" Andy greets grabbing your attention.

"Oh hey! I wasn't expecting you home so soon" you smile walking over and wrapping your arms around him, pecking his lips.

"You've been busy" Andy comments looking around at all the decorations.

"Yeah its nice to get it all out" you smile proud of your handiwork "i love Halloween so much"

"I was surprised at how much you've done, I've never decorated like this" Andy admits.

You smile falters slightly "do you not like it? I can take some of it down" you offer going to step out of his arms but Andy stops you.

"No, no I like it! It's really nice, and if you like it then it stays, how come you never decorated your apartment like this?" Andy asks.

"I never really had the space, I've always wanted to but if I did it would look like a there'd been a pumpkin explosion" you say making Andy laugh.

"Well we can do whatever you want, is there anything I can do to help?" Andy asks.

"No but I did buy pumpkins for us to carve if you want to do that, or we can watch a Halloween movie like hocus pocus?" You suggest.

"Why don't we do both?" Andy smiles watching as your smile grows.

"Really?" You ask surprised.

"Yeah sounds like fun" Andy smiles.

That evening the two of you worked on your jack-o-lanterns. Andy's playful side coming out when he threw some pumpkin guts at you leading to a full on food fight as you threw pumpkin guts at each other. Only stopping when you ran out of guts, focussing more on the actual carving of the pumpkins.

"Oh come on! Yours is so good!" Andy complained when he saw your intricate design.

"Yours is good too! Everyone loves a classic pumpkin" you tell him kissing his cheek running your hands over his shoulders.

"Sure, sure c'mon lets put these outside" Andy says standing up with his pumpkin.

You grab your pumpkin and a couple electric tea lights before following him out onto the porch. He places down his pumpkin as well as yours leaving you to put in the tea lights. Once in place you stepped back towards hand, arm wrapping around his waist as you admired your handiwork.

"Yours is still so much better, mine looks like a toddler did it" Andy grumbles.

"It looks great and you had fun doing it which is what counts, now c'mon lets order some take out and watch a movie" you say smiling up at him.

"Sure I'll go order the food while you go change, you're covered in pumpkin" Andy smirks as you walk back inside.

"And who's fault is that?" You ask raising a brow.

"I dunno, but could you grab me a jumper?" Andy smiles innocently.

"Sure whatever" you chuckle heading up the stairs.

Andy was reclined on the couch having just ordered dinner. You appear a couple moments later now dressed in black and white striped pj bottoms and a black jumper which said 'witch please' on it. You tossed him a jumper he'd never seen before, when be looked at it he saw it was a black cable knit with 'boo!' On the front.

"When did you get this?" Andy asked putting on the sweater.

"Couple weeks ago, do you like it?" You ask sitting down next to him.

"Of course I do, now c'mere I've got hocus pocus lined up" Andy smiles pulling you closer.

You snuggle up closer to him, smiling when you felt him kiss the top of your head. You shift so you could look up at him and smile.

"I love you" you smile.

"I love you too" Andy smiles cupping your cheek and guiding your lips up to his.
