Warnings: Suggestive language, wintery fluff

It was a humid October afternoon as you strolled up the path to Frank's apartment. You were just about to open the door to the kitchen when you heard Mary screaming at her uncle.

"You're the worst uncle ever! I hate you!" She screamed soon followed by the sound of what you guess was guessed was her bedroom door slamming shut.

You waited a couple moments before quietly opening the door and stepping inside. As you walked through the kitchen to the living room you found Frank sat on the edge of the couch pinching the bridge of his nose.

"Hey, bad time?" You say gently as you place your hand on his shoulder rubbing it gently.

He startles slightly before looking up at you and sighing putting his hand on top of yours.

"No, just a disagreement that got out of hand that's all" he sighed tiredly.

He looked exhausted, ready to collapse into bed. You knew he'd be trying to work more, picking up more jobs, not just boats but anything that needed fixing so there was more money around for Christmas. You moved to sit besides him gently rubbing his back to help relieve the tension.

"What was it about?" You ask him.

"She wanted snow for Christmas" Frank sighed as he looked over at you.

"When I told her that we couldn't afford to go somewhere where there was snow she flipped out and I'm guessing you heard the rest" Frank continued reaching out to take your hand.

"Only the last thing she said but I get the gist" you say making him scoff and shake his head.

"Worst uncle ever" he mutters in discontent, which you knew was aimed only at himself.

"You're not the worst uncle ever" you tell him squeezing his hand "she knows you do everything you can for her, how much you'll fight for her, yeah she's insanely smart but she's still a little kid at the end of the day who's trying to understand and control her emotions" you remind him.

"I know, I just- I wish I could give her that sorta Christmas, like the ones I used to have when I was a kid" Frank sighs sadly as he rubs his bearded chin.

"Well we might..." you say getting him to look at you.

"What do you mean?" Frank asks confused.

"Well my aunt has a cabin in Lapland that her and her family visit every Christmas, but they're not going this year so I could ask if maybe we could use it?" You suggest.

"I dunno it still would cost a lot just to fly there, and we'd have to buy all the cold weather gear" Frank sighs running his hand through his hair.

"I can help cover the cost of it all, and there's stuff at the cabin we can borrow" you tell him making him sigh.

"Y/N..." he starts and you know exactly what he was gonna say.

It was a point of contention in your relationship with Frank, something you both worked hard to stop it from tearing you apart. Like Frank, you came from a wealthy family, unlike Frank your family would financially help you if you needed it. Your job also paid more than his, but he never felt completely comfortable letting you pay for him and Mary.

"Frank stop, I know you prefer to cover everything but this is something we'd do together so let me pull my weight, and there's a million ways you could pay me back" you say with a playful smirk at the end.

"Okay fine, lets keep this just between us though I don't want Mary thinking I've caved" Frank concedes making you chuckle.

"Of course, why don't you go grab a beer while I see if I can talk Mary into downgrading you to at least the worst uncle in the state" you say making Frank chuckle as you stood up.
