I was sat working away in my office when I heard my phone start ringing, picking it up I hear my landlord on the other end. I sigh in relief when he tells me how my apartment will be ready to move back into in a weeks time. Don't get me wrong I loved my time at the tower but it still wasn't my home, plus as the time went off I was just getting more and more frustrated with how it was going with Steve. The small break through we had after the mission was short-lived and steve went back to his normal cold way of ignoring me of looking displeased with my presence.

A little while later tony had popped his head into my office "how's things?" he asks sitting down.

"good just got off the phone with my landlord says my apartment will be ready in a week so I can get out of your hair!" I tell him making him chuckle.

"its been great having you, you'll be missed" he says making me roll my eyes.

"not by everyone, I'm sure steve will be glad I'm gone, didn't want me here to begin with" I laugh making tony look over at me slightly confused.

"I don't think that's true, he was the one who suggested you stayed with us" tony says but this time I was the one who was confused.

"but you said I could" I point out.

tony nods his head "yeah I said you could, but before you told me about it steve came up to me and told me your apartment got flooded and suggested you stay with us" tony explains.

I sit back in my chair taking in the information, steve was there when I got the call but he didn't seem to care that much about it.

"just because he was frozen for 70 years doesn't mean he has a heart of ice" tony says with a small smirk leaving me to go over everything that had happened since I'd arrived here.

I didn't get much work done the rest of the day, my head was constantly fogged thinking about steve. why had he suggested that I stay here, why did he then act like the thought of me being in the same room was painful. I had missed dinner and sat in my room trying to work, before I knew it, it was nearly midnight and my stomach was growling. I make my way into the kitchen expecting to find it empty but find steve stood making food. When he catches sight of my he groans quietly which makes my blood boil in an instant.

"what the hell is your problem!" I exclaim glaring over at him, he looks back at me shocked at my outburst.

He then regains his composure and clenches his jaw "what are you talking about?" he asks.

I gesture over to him "you! this behaviour acting like you'd rather be shot than spend a second in the same room as me!" I shout "whenever I walk into the room you completely shut off, clench your jaw and act like a complete asshole! Why do you hate me?" I rub my hand over my face in frustration.

Steve sighs putting his hands on his hips and looking down at the floor shaking his head "I don't hate you" he grumbles.

"yes you do! I can tell when someone doesn't like me, I've tried so hard to build some sort of trust with you and you shut me out, you're so confusing! I feel like I make some progress and then I'm back at square one!" I exclaim begging to pace back and forth.

I look back over at him to seem him clenching his jaw once again looking back over at me with a pained expression "just admit it, you hate me, stop trying to make me think otherwise, if you didn't want me here you shouldn't have suggested it to tony! You hate me admit it, you. hate. me!" I shout walking over to him and poking him harshly in the chest.

"I don't hate you" steve states not look me in the face.

"yes you do!" I argue back.

"No I don't I like you! I really like you!" he shouts making me take a couple steps back shocked and confused.
