Warnings: Fluff in both the literal and romantic sense.

You and Steve had been dating for a few months now. The two of you had met thanks to a very excitable golden retriever who decided Steve was his new best friend.

Steve had been on his usual morning run. His mind was elsewhere stuck thinking about the mission that hadn't gone to plan. Leading to a few minor injuries, it could have gone worse but it should have gone so much better.

Steve naturally took that sort of thing to heart, he was the one leading the mission after all. He was the one who was supposed to keep his team safe. Look out for any threats and detect an ambush.

He was clearly rusty since he definitely did not detect the ambush from the golden ball of fluff. He just saw a blur run straight for his legs tripping him up, if he didn't know how to tuck and roll he would've eaten dirt.

"Buddy no! Oh my god I am so sorry!" Steve heard a female voice say. He did try to look in the direction of the voice but his view was blocked by the fluff ball desperately trying to lick his face.

The fluff ball was soon pulled off of steve allowing him to breath once again and see properly. His eyes meet your apologetic ones and the air is once again knocked from his lungs. Not because he had been tackled by a dog.

You were easily the most gorgeous woman he had ever seen in his entire life. The way the sun shined behind you as he looked up at you created a beautiful silhouette making you seem like an angel from above.

As he rose to his feet brushing off some of the dirt he was able to see you in all your glory. You were stunning, so effortlessly beautiful it made his heart hammer in his chest.

"I'm so so sorry, I don't know what got into him!" You apologises profusely pulling Steve out of the daydream he was caught in.

"It's fine, no harm no foul, he seems like a friendly dog" Steve smiles hoping he didn't look like a nervous fool. He definitely felt like he was back in the 40s when talking to girls was more terrifying than anything else.

"He's probably too friendly for his own good! I'm still so sorry" you chuckle nervously.

"Honestly it's fine, you just wanted to play ey bud?" Steve smiles bending down to pat your dog who was very happy to be receiving all this attention.

"I'm (Y/N) by the way and this trouble maker is Buddy" you say introducing yourself holding your hand out.

"Steve, very nice to meet you, both of you" steve smiles shaking your hand.

"Is there anything I could do to make up for my dog tripping you up" you ask giving a playful glare down towards your fluffy companion.

Steve decided to take his chance since he knew he probably wouldn't get another.

"How about a coffee? I know a nice cafe that's dog friendly thats nearby, unless you have somewhere to be?" Steve suggests hopefully.

He sees you smile back up at him "yeah that would be perfect" you agree.

The rest was history, your coffee date soon turned into a second date, then a third. Steve had actually lost count at this point. One thing he knew for certain though was that he loved you. A fact that currently had him restlessly punching/destroying punching bags in the com-pound gym.

"Whoa who's face are you picturing today?" Nat jokes as she walks into the gym pulling Steve from his thoughts.

"No one, well maybe my own" Steve grumbles accentuating his words with swift punches to the bag.
