Office gossip was always the worst. You hated having to hear it, couldn't people find other things to talk about than someone's divorce? Yet all you ever heard was gossip about Andy's divorce, but at least they didn't know about you yet. Your secret arrangement with Andy remained a secret and would do until the divorce was finalised.
As he promised at the end of summer, Andy began the divorce proceedings against Laurie. He'd hoped that it would be simple enough, that Laurie would also know that the marriage was long dead. But he wasn't so lucky, Laurie was dragging it out in any way possible. At least he'd been able to move out.
Maybe she thought dragging it out and making it impossible would make him stay. Thinking that a tough marriage with her was better than an impossible divorce. But she clearly didn't know Andy well enough, because he was determined and loyal to you. He would jump through as many hoops as possible for you.
Sitting at your desk you poke one of the baubles hanging from your little desk tree. The office was empty, it had been for a while now but Andy was in a meeting with his divorce lawyer trying to negotiate the newest terms. It was taking far too long for your liking.
Eventually, the door opened and the lawyer walked out "I'll pass these on to her lawyer and hopefully we'll have a deal" he sighs turning to face Andy.
"We can only hope" Andy muttered tiredness evident in his voice, shaking his head with irritation at the whole situation.
"See you in the New Year Andy," his lawyer says shaking Andy's hand, before making his way out of the office.
Once he was gone Andy crossed the short distance to your desk, his hand resting on your shoulder "you didn't have to stay sweetheart" he mutters leaning down to press a kiss to the top of your head.
"I know," you say looking up at him "but I didn't want you to be alone"
Andy gives you a soft smile "I guess it means this won't go to waste" he smirks pulling out a sprig of mistletoe from behind his back.
You chuckle, smiling up at him "we wouldn't want that now would we" you smile reaching up to cup his cheek and guiding his lips down to yours for a languid kiss.
"Wanna get outta here and head back to mine?" Andy suggests pressing another soft kiss to your lips, you smile humming in agreement "good, you head back to mine" he says slipping the spare key to his apartment into your hand "I'll go grab some food and meet you there"
"Sounds like a plan" you smile as you stand up from your chair "Don't be too long" you run your fingers through his beard, your smile widening when he lets out a small hum of contentment.
His hand meets yours as he turns his head to kiss your palm "I wouldn't dare, now go on, head on home"
You grin up at him, your heart singing at his use of the word home. The promise of what your future together held, that someday you'd be able to leave this office hand in hand, go home together.
"See you in a bit" you grin, Andy helps slide your coat on and passes you your bag.
As you walk out of the office, you turn once you reach the door blowing a kiss back to Andy, who smiles warmly back at you, before making your way out.

Arriving at Andy's apartment complex, you drove into the below-ground parking lot, using the less-used back entrance. Once parked you grabbed the overnight bag you kept in your trunk, smiling to yourself as you did so. Knowing that only a few months ago, the idea of having an overnight bag to stay at Andy's and actually getting to use it was a dream.
