Warnings: Follows events of Civil War so its mostly angst sorry.
You and Steve soon developed a system. He'd text you a list of things that he would need. Like food or medicine or clothes. You'd pack it up into a duffle bag. Leave it in the cabin only to return the next week to collect the bag he'd left. Occasionally he'd leave a note or something to make you smile.
It had been nearly a year since he had to go on the run. Everything thing had seemed to calm down, the world had moved on. While you knew it wasn't safe to come home yet, you were desperate to actually see him.
So when you dropped off the most recent set of supplies you didn't leave. You pulled the sheet that covered the couch off and rested there until he arrived. You weren't sure exactly when it would be so you brought food for yourself just in case.
You didn't have to wait long as in the middle of the night you awoke to the sound of the cabin door opening. Sitting up you could see the silhouette of his large frame in the door.
"Doll" he says in a surprised tone.
"Steve" you say getting up from the couch.
"What are you doing here?" He asks stepping and shutting the door behind him.
"I couldn't bare not seeing you, I'm sorry" you apologise glancing down slightly.
"Don't apologise, I was just surprised thats all, god its so good to see you" he sighs crossing the room and instantly wrapping his arms around you.
You hug him back tightly, burying your head in his chest. Taking the familiar and comforting smell of him. God you missed him, so so much.
When you look up at him you take in his change in appearance. His hair was much longer and shaggier, making it look darker. He also has a bushy beard that despite being on the run he still kept relatively neat. You reach up to cup his cheek rubbing your thumb through his beard.
"Sorry if you don't like it, it helps hide who I am" he says with a small grin.
"No I like it" you smile your eyes moving to his.
Despite everything his eyes still shone as he looked back down at him. Hands still cupping his cheek you pull him down so his lips found yours. You instantly melt into the kiss, his arms wrapping around your waist tightly as he pulled you closer.
"I've missed you so much" Steve sighs resting his forehead against yours.
"I've missed you too" you sighs closing your eyes trying to make this moment last forever.
"How long can you stay?" You ask him looking back up at him.
"Until the morning" he says running his hand up and down your arms.
"I wish it was longer but I'm glad I have you for as long as I can" you sigh.
"Me too, I love you so much" steve says kissing you once more.
"I love you too" you smile.
...
After that day you and Steve continued to meet in secret at the cabin. He's stay overnight whenever he collected supplies. You has a feeling he would visit when you weren't there too as things around the cabin slowly began to get repaired. The place became more and more lived in. A blanket over the couch, a bookshelf on the wall.
Each time you visited it became harder and harder to leave, it becoming more and more like a home. Steve must have been the same because he began to stay longer too. Nights became a day or two. He even stayed an entire week once.
