All the avengers had secrets. Secrets about their pasts that the public didn't know. Secrets that they kept from each other, for various reasons like to keep each other safe.
You and Steve had a secret, one you kept from the rest of the team. Not to keep them safe, but to avoid unnecessary hassle for as long as possible.
It was another Stark party, the occasion you had no clue. You just knew that attendance was mandatory. So here you were putting on your best dress, styling you hair to perfection. You were just putting the final touches to your makeup when Nat walked into your room.
"You ready yet, we're running late for fashionably late" she smirks walking over to stand beside you in front of the mirror.
"Nearly" you chuckle walking over to perch on the edge of your bed, slipping on your heels.
Nat turns round to face you smiling as you stood up, smoothing down your dress.
"You are gonna have all the men falling at your feet" she smirks nodding over at you.
"Please" you scoff, laughing at the idea.
"Don't tell me you don't like the attention" Nat smirks linking her arm in yours as the two of you walked out of your room.
"I don't really care for it, too busy having fun" you smirk shrugging your shoulders playfully.
The party was in full swing when the two of you walked in. You had barely stepped out of the elevator when Bucky appeared in front of you.
"Well someone call an ambulance because we have a man killer" he smirks looking over at Nat.
"Worried for your safety Barnes?" Nat smirks.
"Maybe a little, but I think I can handle you" he grins.
"I'll leave you two lovebirds" you laughs heading off towards the bar.
You made your way behind the bar to make yourself a drink. As you did so someone walked over leaning up against the bar. Glancing up you see Steve smiling over at you, looking great in his dark blue shirt.
"What can I get for you sir?" You smirk.
"Just a beer please" he asks with a playful grin.
You chuckle grabbing him a beer pushing it over to him.
"On the house" you say winking over at him.
"Thanks doll, now what's a pretty thing like you doing behind a bar" Steve asks taking a sip of his beer.
"Careful, my boyfriend wouldn't like you talking to me like that" you smirk leaning against the bar.
"Oh really? I don't see him around" Steve says raising a brow.
"He's off saving the world" you smirk grabbing your drink and walking away, hearing him laugh as you went.
Throughout the party your eyes often found Steve's, the two of you smiling over at each other. Currently he was being talked to by Sharon. You watched as she flirted with him, you weren't too worried as you could see the feeling wasn't mutual. You smirked as he put on a polite smile nodding occasionally to give the impression that he was listening. His eyes caught yours and you could see the silent plea for help making you chuckle.
"Hey (Y/N) it's your turn on the karaoke!" You hear Tony shout.
"Oh god Tony please no" you laugh shaking your head at the idea.
"Nope you haven't got a choice, I've heard you singing around the place you'll kill it" Tony say grabbing your hand and dragging you over.
As you went your eyes catch Steve's who was raising a brow in question. You saw Sharon grab his attention again by putting a hand on his chest. It was then that an idea popped into your head, it probably wasn't the smartest idea but if you pulled it off god would it be satisfying.
You get the song you want set up before Tony passes you the mic and you get ready to sing. The song starts and you begin to hum along to the tune.
"Hey Stephen
I know looks can be deceiving
But I know I saw a light in you" you sing, as you do so Steve looks over at you and begins to smirk.
"Of all the girls tossing rocks at your window
I'll be the one waiting there even when it's cold
Hey Stephen
Boy, you might have me believing
I don't always have to be alone" you continue trying not to laugh when all the team slowly start to watch, confused expressions on their faces.
"'Cause I can't help it if you look like an angel
Can't help it if I wanna kiss you in the rain, so
Come feel this magic I've been feeling since I met you
Can't help it if there's no one else
Mmm, I can't help myself" you smirk keeping your eyes on steve who was laughing as the team looked at the both of you.
When the song ends Steve walks over to you a wide smile on his face. He wraps his arms around you pulling you close, you resting your hands on his chest smiling up at him.
"You know this wasn't what I was expecting when I asked you to save me" he says making you chuckle, before full on laughing when you caught sight of Sharon looking over at you shocked and embarrassed.
"But I liked it" he adds before leaning down and capturing your lips in his.
"What the actual fuck just happened?!" Tony exclaims loudly making you and Steve laugh.
