Normally whenever Chris came back to his home state, his mind would quieten down. But this time the brain noise only got louder. Now that he was back in the quiet town of Sudbury, there was nothing to drown the noise out.

He tried his best to stay present in the moment. Wanting to enjoy the time he had back home for the holidays. This year had been so busy for him, he barely got to see his family. Stopping over for a weekend before having to set off for another commitment.

No matter how hard he tried though, he found himself trapped in his thoughts. Leaving him in a tired and sour mood. Not wanting to be a burden he took himself out. Driving around the streets of Sudbury. He drove for hours, the bright snow covered ground turning into a warmer shade of white as the sun set and street lights illuminated the streets.

When he grew tired of driving he found a parking lot and just sat in silence, watching the world go by. As he looked out he noticed he'd parked in between the methodist and his old middle school. He chuckled to himself as he recalled memories of his time there.

Chris was sat in the auditorium nervously bouncing his leg. This was the first time he was trying out for the role of the scarecrow in the Wizard of Oz. Something his older sister Carly had pushed him into doing.

He nervously glanced around at all the other kids who were waiting to audition. The vast majority of them being older than him. He nearly completely backed out, what was he doing here? He wasn't going to get a part. He'd probably end up playing a munchkin.

He was just about to leave when he saw a girl walk up onto the stage. He recognised her as the new girl at school, he'd seen her in a couple of his classes but never actually spoken to her.

He sat back down not wanting to disturb the audition, even if he did feel like he was going to breakdown at any moment. He was so glad he did as when he watched you audition for Dorothy he couldn't believe how good you were. He felt like he was watching the actual stage show.

He was so caught up in his own thoughts he didn't initially hear his name being called out.

"It's your turn" you told him gently as you passed him to sit back down.

"Um yeah okay thanks" Chris stuttered before jumping out of his seat and making his way onto the stage.

As he looked out at everyone who was watching him, he thought he was going to vomit. He couldn't do this. Not following your amazing audition. When he glanced over at you, you gave him a smile and thumbs up and he instantly felt his nerves die down. He took a deep breath before he began his audition.

That was the first time Chris had met you, following that both of you ended up landing the roles you wanted. As the play went on a friendship blossomed and you became inseparable. To this day Chris couldn't believe how you had managed to calm him down with a simple smile and thumbs up.

Chris was about the start his car and head home when he spotted someone across the street that he hadn't seen in over a year. He instantly shuffled down so he wouldn't be spotted. Watching as you walked across the street with a friend.

You were completely bundled up in a large brown coat, scarf wrapped around tightly, hat pulled down. Even from here Chris could see how the tip of your nose was red from the cold. He smiled to himself when he saw you laugh loudly at whatever your friend said, throwing your head back. Even though he couldn't actually hear it, your laugh was always one of his favourite sounds.
