It's been nearly two weeks since the merger and since I came back to work. I've become slightly more confident in being in the ER, but I'm still not confident about going into an OR.

Most of the doctors were sitting in the hall waiting to be interviewed about today's disaster. I'm standing next to my dad anxiously bouncing on my heels.

Reed: someone's getting fired.
April: stop it.
Charles: she wasn't even my patient.

I roll my eyes at Percy as Cristina speaks up.

Cristina: what?
Charles: nothing.
Alex: how long is this gonna take?
Jackson: why, you need to make a phone call?

I hear Percy and Dylan snicker at Jackson's comment. I was about to bite back when I see Alex lunge at Jackson.

Delilah: Alex!

Everyone stands up to rip the two apart. My dad grabs alex while Owen takes Jackson.

Delilah: Alex!
Webber: I said enough!

I grab Alex's arms and I look up at the Chief.

Webber: what happened here tonight, what happened to that patient was inexcusable. And we're gonna be here til I find out who's responsible for it. So until then, you will sit down, you will shut up and you'll wait to be called. Hunt.

I sit down in Alex's lap as Owen goes in. I look over at Dylan, whom I have become close to lately, and mouth 'don't' to him. He nods at me and mouths 'I'm sorry' to me so I nod back at him.

~conference room~

Webber: uh, I need you to give me the lay of the land of your ER tonight from the beginning.
Owen: we were slammed with a mass casualty, a hotel fire– half a dozen burn victims, a penetrating chest wound, a firefighter with multiple traumas—
Webber: what doctors were working?
Owen: Yang, Grey, Karev, little Shepherd, Adamson, that big kid whose name I don't know (Percy), uh, Kepner, Avery and Torres.

After Chief Webber interviews Owen Hunt, he walks out to call someone else.

~outside~

Webber: Shepherd.

Dad and I both turn our heads at the same time.

Webber: little Shepherd.

I look at my dad and he reassuringly nods at me before I walk in.

~conference room~

Delilah: it wasn't my patient. I was with Dr. Yang and we handed off the chart to someone else.
Webber: who?
Delilah: I don't quite remember. After we handed the chart off, I had to go to the blood drive.

-hours before-

I'm sitting on the arm of Alex's chair as he waits to get his blood drawn. I already had mine done and I'm eating my cookie and drinking my juice to make sure I don't pass out.

Delilah: you okay?
Alex: she hasn't answered.
Delilah: if it makes you feel any better, I've tried her a few times.
Alex: you have?
Delilah: yeah. I may or may not have left some... very distasteful voicemails.

Alex lets out an airy laugh.

Alex: you did that for me?
Delilah: I did. I'd do anything for you Alex.
