Chapter 34:

The next morning, I wake up in the empty on-call room absolutely terrified. I start pacing around the room with my thoughts on overdrive. Then, I see Alex come in.

Alex: we were called into the Chief's office. I'm heading there now.
Delilah: all of us?
Alex: no, you're in the clear. Bailey told the Chief that you paged her about the situation.

I let out a sigh of relief.

Alex: but I promise if your name comes up, I have your back.
Delilah: I'll stand outside the door and wait for you guys.
Alex: no, don't.
Delilah: I can't sit in here anymore Alex. I'm going crazy.

Alex sighs then takes my hand and we go to the Chief's office. When we get close, I stop when I see all my friends standing in the Chief's office in front of Webber waiting for Alex.

Alex: you stay here, understand? I've got your back.
Delilah: thanks.

Alex kisses my forehead then he walks into the Chief's office. I lean against the wall and watch the meeting with shaking hands. I get a text from Theo but I don't answer him and I watch my friends.

3rd Person POV:

We see Alex Karev, Meredith Grey, Cristina Yang, George O'Malley and Izzie Stevens standing in front of Chief Webber's desk where Chief Webber was standing. Everyone was silent for a bit until Izzie Stevens speaks up.

Izzie: I cut the LVAD wire.
Meredith: actually, I cut the LVAD wire.
George: no. I did it, I'm the one who cut the wire.

George nudges Cristina who didn't speak up and she quickly responds.

Cristina: fine. I cut the LVAD wire.

Alex speaks up and defends himself, along with Delilah, who wasn't in the room since she was the one who paged Dr. Bailey.

Alex: I didn't do anything, I'm totally innocent. So is Delilah.
Meredith: Alex!
Alex: I wasn't even here, and Delilah may have been in the room with you idiots but she's innocent. He knows that I wasn't here and that Delilah was the one that practically saved the guy. You think he doesn't know that? The guy's not mentally challenged.

Alex couldn't help but raise his voice at his friends for not defending Delilah. He stayed true to his word to Delilah and defended her like a true friend. It was no surprise that the Shepherd girl was the closest thing Alex Karev had to family and he would do anything and everything to keep her out of trouble's way.

George: that's not the point. What about loyalty?
Cristina: we had an agreement.

Everyone starts yelling at each other but the Chief quickly shuts it down.

Webber: people! I know who did this, so you might as well come clean. I know.
George: with all due respect sir, if you knew, you wouldn't be asking us.
Izzie: I did what—
Meredith: you have your suspicions but you don't actually know.
Cristina: not for sure.
George: and you can't do anything to any of us without proof sir.
Webber: well, one thing I know for sure is that Dr. Delilah Shepherd did what she had to do in order to save a patient. On the other hand, one of you compromised said patient's life. One of you stole an organ. One of you jeopardized the integrity of this hospital and of UNOS. Now, you tell me and you tell me right now!

Everyone falls silent, and that didn't sit well with the Chief.

Webber: alright... fine. No surgeries.
Cristina: sir—
Webber: you heard what I said! No surgeries. No one scrubs in, no one watches from the gallery, no one so much as goes near the OR floor. Until someone confesses, the six of you will share a single patient: Camille Travis. Whatever she wants, the six of you will provide it! Whatever she wants. Now, get the hell out of my sight!
