Thanksgiving Eve

Delilah: so I'm with you today.
Mark: excellent. Help me with this patient here. Major burns.

I sit next to Mark and help him out. I'm a couple minutes in when a young girl approaches Mark. She was blonde and she looked about 18 or a bit older.

Sloan: Dr. Sloan?
Mark: yeah.

The girl looked familiar but I couldn't really put my finger on it.

Sloan: hi. Um, so this is a little weird, but, um... my name is Sloan Reilly. And, uh, my mom's Samantha Reilly. And, um... I'm pretty sure you're my dad.

I let out a tiny squeal of shock, immediately covering my mouth with my hand afterwards as I see Mark's face fall into shock.

Mark had told me about Samantha a few times when I was younger but I don't remember much about her considering I had only met her a few times.

I've always joked about Mark having a secret child somewhere in the world, but I never thought it would be true.

-later-

I placed Mark and Sloan Reilly in a conference room while I got a paternity test for them. I walk into the room with Callie behind me and I see the tension between my godfather and his potential daughter.

Delilah: hi. How's everything going?

Total silence. Awkward.

Delilah: o... kay. So, have we broached the question of a paternity test? Because I have it all fired up here if we want it.

Then, I get paged by my dad.

Delilah: Callie, you take over here. My dad needs me in surgery. Bye, have fun, love youuuu!

I giggle when I hear Callie call out to me but I was already out the door and running into surgery. As I help my dad out, I hear Lexie talking about Mark's daughter.

Lexie: she's 18. That's not very much younger than me.
Dad: well, it's not that shocking.
Delilah: yeah Lex. I mean, the way Mark got around before he met you, there could be a gaggle of Sloans.
Dad: Sloan Jones, Sloan Smith...
Der&Del: Sloan Sloan.

Dad and I share a laugh.

Arizona: mean.

-later-

Dad and I are looking for Mark so we go into the conference room where I left him last.

Der&Del: Sloan.
Mark: yeah.
Sloan: yes?

Dad and I chuckle as we look at Mark.

Dad: Mark, I need you on something.

We walk out of the room and Mark immediately starts talking about his daughter.

Mark: I have a daughter you guys.
Der&Del: yeah.
Mark: an 18 year old daughter. I am too young to have an 18 year old. It's a nail in my coffin. It's like death has come to call.
Delilah: okay grandpa, can we put a pin in your existential crisis for a sec?
