Been a little while since a proper life update! Over the month of August, New Zealand went into lockdown. During my mid-trimester break, I flew home because I was going to spend a week visiting my family. On the first day, there was news that there was a covid case in the community that couldn't be connected to the border or cases in managed isolation. At first I brushed it off - a single covid case? Couldn't be serious. But then I remembered that was what I thought of covid the first time, and that didn't end well. So I'd better assume the worst and completely catastrophise the situation.

And I was right! It's so annoying when my anxiety is right. That night, Jacinda announced a short level 4 lockdown, the highest level. That means nothing is open, not even ubereats. I know that seems drastic, but it was assumed to be delta and no one knew how it got into the community.

I panicked and immediately assumed it would be like the last lockdown, that was two months long. I flew back to my hall (dorms) because as much as I love my family, I'd be much happier stuck in a hall either my two closest friends than with my family. My last experience in lockdown was absolute hell as my mental health team forced me into ed recovery halfway through, so the whole time I was just arguing with my parents and being very stressed and upset. Luckily they understood my decision to leave and supported me, even if they weren't happy about it.

This lockdown went on for about a month, not the couple of days it was originally planned to be. Because the case was delta, and it spread like wildfire. I ended up having a great time. I was in "a bubble" with two friends on my floor. I LOVED THAT. I hate living with so many people and it was so fun with just my friends. Lockdown is now over, except for one city (it has a 3rd of nz's population and the bulk of the covid cases)

So here's a little photodump!! I can't show any pics with my friends for their privacy though, and just a little warning for alcohol/weed

I turned 19 and my friends celebrated my birthday! We had a party at a friend's flat and then went out to a cocktail bar

the end of the night, crossfaded, 5 mins before the high hit and I thought I was dying

I've started volunteering at a cat shelter! I adore cats but It'll be a long time before I can have my own cat, as very few flats around the city allow cats, so this is a way I can still be around them
