Like most people here, I want to be an author. Not a full time one (a bitch wants to be a psychologist. Not sure whether I want to go into abnormal psych, clinical pysch or developmental. Please help.) but I still really want to be an author! It's something I'm slightly good at and I have a real passion for it.
Writing Warriors fanfiction is all fun and games for practice, writing for the joy of it, and gaining skills, but I can't publish Warriors fanfiction. Buuut I do have an idea for an original work that I'd love to get published. I want to talk about the concept and get feedback?
For those who were following me back in 2016, I had a book idea that I mentioned. It was about a character called Wolfhound, and her world centered around alignments that determined certain traits of a person's personality. I won't go too into detail on the original idea because I think it was really dumb but I'm happy to say it's been under a lot of development!
Essentially - the alignments are possibly going to be based on certain "dark" traits and the opposite of those said traits. A person will align with one of each. This traits (I stole from that dark core quiz everyone on ig was taking) are narcissism, pyschopathy, machiavellianism, egoism, moral disengagment, spite, sadism, and self interest. The only opposite I have at the moment is "Cultivate," which is basically trustworthyness, sincerity and honesty. It's the opposite for machiavellianism.
An alternate set of alignments I have considered is sort of a different version of the seven sins: ignorance, apathy, wrath/Fury, pride, jealousy avarice, and selfishness.
These alignments effect jobs, social life and other aspects of culture.
The protagonist, Wolfhound belongs to a secret society that knows how to manipulate these alignments. This is of course very illegal because it has the ability to change a person's entire personality and life, and has the ability to affect society as a whole. This society is...very intense. Murder happens. I don't know why murder happens but I want it to happen. Everyone goes by an animal alias (hence "Wolfhound") and this alias is "earned" by a ritual preformed to fully welcome someone into the society after a long time of training and such. This ritual involves animal sacrifice and drinking the blood. Basically it's a test of how far you're able to go because obviously there's a lot of dark shit that does on in the society. (It was originally xenotransplantation!! But then I realised that really wouldn't work due to heart sizes and how incredibly risky xenotransplantation is. And that science is complex shit.)
The protagonist has bpd due to a Past Trauma™ that I don't know yet. It'll need to occur within the society. Basically she discovers she hates the society and wants to escape. She also wants to heal from her trauma. It basically follows the theme of "you can't heal in the same environment you got sick." She's also bisexual and I love her.
I clearly don't have that many details sorted out but I'm excited by this idea and I like where it's going. What are your thoughts?
