Did you guys think I'd abandoned The Empire? I don't blame you if you did. It's been a long time since I've properly worked on The Empire, and I've been promising an Empire fic for years.
I'm graduating college (high school to you americans) in a few weeks. I'm working on my last assignment right now, then I've got exams, and after that it's all over. Pretty scary stuff. I don't know what I'll do over summer. Ideally I'll get some kind of a job. And then I'll be off to uni. I'll write about how my life has been going sometimes in the future, I've got some Situations that need to be sorted out before I want to say anything. So what I'm saying is, I've finally got some time on my hands to start working on my writing again.
It's finally time to deliver on my promises and write the damned Empire fic. That's right: Aquiver and Maplepaw are coming back. But while I'm in the process of planning, I'll be working on the worldbuilding behind the Empire. Over the years that the concept of the Empire has existed in my head, it's gone through many revisions and changes, so the worldbuilding needs a lot of work right now, because a lot of my past worldbuilding doesn't fit with the current (and hopefully finale) version of the Empire.
One major barrier for me in getting this worldbuilding done is the lack of interaction and feedback between myself and you guys. Lets be honest, I thrive off of validation. Without an external motivator like a deadline, I get nothing done. I want to get you all involved in my worldbuilding. I want to grow The Empires beyond my fics.
Recently, I discovered The Averno Universe on instagram. It's a multimedia project including musicals, a podcast, plays, novels, etc. When I found this project, I wasn't all that interested in the content itself - it's good and I'd recommend checking it out! It's just not my thing. What interested me was how interactive the universe was. The way the Averno universe is run and worked on inspired me to work on The Empire in a similar way, though to less of a scale. After al, this is still a fanfiction based project and I don't plan on making money off of this or making musicals and tv shows!
How I'll be expanding on the Empire is posting about it on instagram, first and foremost. Maybe on tumblr, warriors amino, whatever. Cross-posting will help keep people interested, grow interest around the Empire and me accountable and interested. I'll be making more art, and working on a roleplay! If anyone's interested, maybe creating challenges of some kind to make this more interactive and get all of you involved. Something like sorting people into Cities and having art, writing, or other creative challenges or competitions between them. Though if things get that big I'll definitely need help running things! But that's only if this becomes big enough, haha. The main thing I'll be doing is opening up the Empire. You guys can create ocs, make art, even make fanfiction if you want. I don't know, these are just possibilities! Basically, I'll be opening the Empire up for you guys to do what you want with it (though I'd like people to get permission if you're doing anything major) though I don't think there's enough worldbuilding at this stage to do much, so again, this idea is a future ambition. I'll just be slowly building on the Empire while keeping it much more open and interactive. I'm wondering what exactly you guys would be interested in me working on with the Empire? What aspect of the worldbuilding do you want me to focus on next? And how you would like me to go about posting this?
