Possibly my dumbest writing worry

I've been stressing about my chapter lengths recently. When I started writing Eyesore, it was hard to push out 3,000 words per chapter. It wasn't what I was used to. I challenged myself to do that because I needed to train myself to write a longer length as I want to be a published author one day and I can't do that with a 45,000-60,000 word book. I also wanted it to be more similar to the actual warriors books.

I know most people here generally write between 1,500-2,500 words. And that's totally fine! It just makes my works lengtheir, which can be hard to read. I've started worrying about this a lot and trying to limit my word count - I want to make it easier and more accessible on the reader.

But long books aren't bad! (Nor are short books) truth is, Eyesore isn't even that long. By Wattpad standards, maybe. But with real books, novels tend to be between 70,000 words and 120,000. Eyesore will be over 90,000, which isn't that long. Books tend to have 250 words or page, making Eyesore have around 12/13/14 pages per chapter. That's a completely normal length.

I've been sitting here beating myself up over something that's average. I've thought "oh no, my works are impossible for people to read" and thought I'm a shitty writer for that.

Of course, as a writer, you should consider reader's comfort. But if something feels right, write it like that. Writing is an experience shared by the writer and the reader. I like writing longer chapters. They suit my writing and the story I'm trying to write. (I hope!) And that's what matters.

While I'm rambling, chapter lengths should vary. It's okay, hell, it's encouraged, that you have some shorter chapters and some longer ones. Choose what suits your chapter. And while I'm on the topic of quick writing advice, for any fanfic writers wanting to become published, make sure your chapters aren't episodic. This is a common problem for fanfic writers because we tend to write chapter by chapter. But books aren't written or read that way. Just be careful!

Anyway idk what this update was but I just wanted to ramble. Enjoy lol
