"I brought Landon." You pushed open the door to your aunt's room, your younger cousin right behind you. As soon as he saw her on the bed he rushed in as fast as he could.
"Mother!" He sat down on the chair, reaching out for her arm. She smiled softly as he held her arm and hand tight as if the world depended on it, and he could hardly smile back at the sight of his mother in such a position.
"Thank you, _____." She was growing much weaker everyday, and while the doctors and healers were doing everything they could, her body was taking it's sweet time recovering. Time that could work against her. "I'm glad you could make it."
"Nothing would have prevented me from coming to see you." He sighed, and she reached up and placed her hand on his head. "Tell me what happened, mom." He still held her arm tightly, and she looked again at you.
"I'll be with Zelda." You told her, and she nodded and began explaining the event at Korok Forest to him while you walked out.
You made it to Zelda's room a few hallways and a flight of stairs away, and she was sitting at her desk writing something.
"Zelda." She quickly turned her head to see you, and you walked in and stood behind her chair. "Are you ready to start your training?" You asked, and she shook her head. "What are you doing?"
"I was thinking that since father's not here," She got up and walked to her bed, flopping down onto it. "We don't go to the spring today." You raised your eyebrow, urging for her to explain. "Going to the springs and praying hasn't done me anything for the last ten years!"
"So you're just going to quit?" You rested a hand on your hip, and she pushed herself up so she was sitting again. "I'm afraid I cannot allow you to do that."
"No! That's not what I meant." She shook her head, pushing her hair behind her ears. "I was hoping you could tell me a bit about it. I know the way you held the power was different than the way I do, but it's the best it'll get."
"Well, I'm not promising it'll help, but I could try." You looked down at your hand, still bandaged up as the scar left a few days ago hadn't quite stopped stinging. "What kind of things would you like to know?"
"Like what was going through your head when you used it. Anything you did to unleash it." You sat down next to her, motioning for her to lift her hand up.
"I remember having visions of not the goddess, but your mother. For you, I think it would be the Goddess." She took a breath and started to try and focus on Hylia. "In most times, I'd have to be in a... dangerous situation. But Amirah could wield it at will since she mastered it."
"Okay." She kept her hand held out, and it was a long few seconds before you could see a light glowing. The three triangles glowed faintly on her hand. You gasped. "What? Did I do it?" Her eyes were closed so she didn't see, but when she did, she gasped too. Then it stopped. And started, and stopped again. And again and again.
"What?" You were confused until you noticed something around her neck glowing in the same pattern. The blue orb. "Wait a minute." She noticed you looking at it, and when she looked down, she seemed to know.
"Oh, the orb." She unhooked it from the little silver chain it was on, and then looked at it as it rolled to the center of her left palm. The 'triforce' symbol went away.
"That doesn't explain the triforce?" You examined it, wondering if it had some projection or something. But she pointed to the golden triforce that faded into blue on her necklace. The one you gave her all those years ago when you left.
"This reflects the triforce when light hits it." Ah yes. The special little jewel you used to wear all the time that used to belong to your mother, you nearly forgot about that capability. What a trickster. "I left the activator in your room though."
"I don't have it." You shrugged, but then before you could think to answer, you heard loud giggling and squealing, down the hall and coming closer.
"GET BACK HERE!" You heard Revali yell as you saw your daughter dash past the open door, pressing the blue button repeatedly, and your husband was right behind her with Kai in his left wing. Your son seemed very happy with the situation as he sucked the toy in his hand. "Amalia!"
"I guess Amalia got her wings on it." You laughed as you heard the footsteps still heading down the hall, and the excited squeals of the little Hylitos, delighted with their father running everywhere after them. "Here, Zelda, why don't you get dressed in something comfortable for fighting, and we'll do a little session in the coliseum?"
~~~~
"Aunt _____?" She called out for you, walking into the coliseum with her bag and sword. "Where is she?" She could have sworn you were already mostly ready to go. And aside from that, she got distracted on the way. You had to have already been there. "Maybe she left?"
"She wouldn't have left," She thought. "She's patient about waiting for us."
Swords. Slicing against each other. She turned around as she thought it was you, but- no. It wasn't. It was a tall yiga, with a mask that had a scar and dueling swords.
Wait a minute.
"AHH!" She dropped her bag as the man ran at her, stopping on a dime as soon as she fell over. "W-What do you want?!" A sword was aimed at her, and she took a few breaths trying to process what just happened. "Why are you here?!"
"Hm." A low hum emitted from their throat, looking Zelda up and down. Then they pointed to Zelda's hand. She looked at it herself before shaking her head. "You hold the Triforce of Wisdom. And if you don't, I take the King instead."
"No!" She held her hand up towards them, and nothing happened. She started shaking and eventually pulled her hand into her chest and curled up, ready to face defeat. But then you pulled your mask off. "_-____?" She looked up at your upset face. "W-What?! What was that for?!"
"It's not working the same for you." You sighed, walking over to the bench. She was still shocked as she sat there terrified. "I'm sorry, Zelda."
"What do you mean it didn't work the same for me?! What did it do for you!?" She got up, reaching for her bag. She dragged it to the bench, and you could tell she wasn't exactly happy with you.
"Not me. Your mother. That's what awakened your mother's powers for the first time." You sat down, slowly taking apart your disguise. Scabbards off your hips, armor pieces off your suit, everything unnecessary.
"If that's how she had to awaken her powers, then I must say I feel a bit bad for her." She heaved it onto the spot next to you, and then sat down on the other side of it. "I... suppose I appreciate you trying."
"We have to try everything. Leave not one stone unturned." You set your mask and swords aside, shaking your hair out. "We'll figure it out. We still have time."
~~~~
"So how was your day at the spring?" Rhoam asked as he stood next to you on the balcony over one of the main rooms. You had been spaced off for a while now.
"It was fine." You did finally take her to the spring, deciding it best for now until you could think of something else. "Nothing new. We tried a few extra methods. We're still working on it."
"Very well." You both looked down into the dining room that was connected to this main room you were above. Landon was sat at the head of the table, writing something. Likely out to either his wife or father. And most likely about Janelle. "Come along. I have a few things I wish to speak to you about."
He led you up the stairs and to his study, and for once the topic wasn't about Zelda. It was about the Champions.
