"We're gonna stop here for just a bit before we head to Kakariko Village. We need to meet with Impa one more time before we head to get the sword and take Ganon down." You said as you walked towards the East Lanayru Gate, and Link nodded as he walked by your side.
"I'll try to find some wildberries and apples." He hurried towards the entrance to the mountain path, and you continued to walk at your slower pace to take in a fresh breath of the wild. Being in and out of Divine Beasts and severly different climates was exhausting. It was a relief to finally be done and able to look ahead at the battle, and, perhaps beyond even that.
"This is where we were when it happened." You breathed to yourself, looking behind you at the mountain that had blocked your view from seeing the first moment of Ganon's awakening. "I wonder where we'll be when it ends." You noticed Link had stopped at the gate, and was just standing there staring at it. "Link?"
You walked over to him, and realized just how fixated on it he was. It was like the times he remembered the Champions. And that time at Goron City when...
"I remember." He released a breath he'd been holding, his eyes still looking at the gate. "The day the Calamity happened." You looked a little closer, and then you took out the Sheikah Slate and held it up with a picture on it. It was a picture of the gate. Zelda must've taken it. "Just the way I saw the Champions..."
"At Goron City... you remembered Daruk?" You asked, and he nodded. "I also wanted to ask... what were your memories like with the other champions?"
"Well, for Mipha, we were... sitting together on top of Ruta, talking. She was healing my wounds." He thought a little more. "Revali was... well, challenging me to a duel on Medoh. Then he insulted me and flew away..." You snorted a bit, but then stopped yourself. "Urbosa had called me to Naboris to speak with her about Zelda, and she used her lightning to wake her up. And Daruk and I were riding Rudania across the Death Mountain, or the maw of it anyways. Then he protected me from a huge boulder."
"Well, aside from Revali, you have some good memories of them at least. I suppose Revali didn't make much of an effort to give you a good memory of him, but... he wasn't a bad person. Not even a bit. I want you to know that." You told him, and he nodded. "I'm glad the Champions can at least see the good they've done for Hyrule, but they don't get to be in it."
"Well, we're going to make the most out of this for them. We'll honor them and do the best we can with the second chance they've given us." Link said, and you agreed. "When we beat this Calamity, the three of us are going to rebuild Hyrule to be the best kingdom it could ever be."
"Right." You nodded, looking down at your ring. It broke your heart a little everytime you saw it, but knowing Revali was safe and would soon be at peace made you feel a bit better. And, the idea of seeing your kids again after the final battle was enough to keep you going.
Link noticed the shaky breath you released and the way you were looking at your hand, and he placed his hand on your shoulder. "I know how much you miss them."
"I know they're free and they're going to get to rest soon, but..." You sighed and balled your fist. "I'm going to make Demise and Ganon and all of his minions regret everything they've ever done." You blinked a few times to try and make your eyes less watery. "They were my family."
"I'm not sure if this will mean much, but," Link sighed. "I think-"
He was interrupted by a loud roar, and when you looked through the gate, you saw a Lynel attacking a wolf and three pups. You gasped and grabbed your sword, rushing towards the beast ready to attack. It saw you before you hit, and managed to dodge your swing.
You slid a bit as you stopped before rushing back in, and this time you managed to mount it and started whacking it repeatedly. Link joined your battle, shooting arrows at the Lynel from a higher spot on the hill. Once you were off of the thing, it suddenly saw Link and began shooting its own ice arrows.
Link didn't have time to grab his shield, so he had to use Daruk's Protection in it's place. After the shot, you whistled, recapturing the red Lynel's attention, and it got lower and ran towards you on all six's. You dodged right in time to open a point to flurry rush, and that's just what you did.
You gave it a good few whacks before running out a bit so you had time to use your bow, and you were able to shoot three arrows at once. Three bomb arrows.
Link used Revali's Gale to fly up high enough to where the Lynel didn't see him, he shot some more arrows, and then landed on its back before he stabbed it over and over again. While he did this, you leaped up, sliced off most of it's right horn, and you grabbed the bone piece and shoved it in your bag. It kicked Link off it's back, and then proceeded to chase the boy down the road.
You ran after him, and tried to distract the lynel while Link turned and ran the other way, but it continued to pay attention to him as he darted back towards the gate. All of a sudden, a rock flew down towards the boy and knocked him off his feet, and the lynel stopped once he caught up with him.
You gasped as the Lynel raised it's sword above Link, and this made Link realize he couldn't use Daruk's Protection to block himself. You threw your hand out, hoping to use wind or something to move Link, but it didn't work. You kept trying, but that's when you realized.
You felt absolutely no power from the scroll at all anymore.
As the Lynel was about to hit Link, it stopped once it reached its highest point, as a loud thump behind you stopped it, and when you both turned around, you saw a large red hinox standing right there.
Link held his hand out and while weakly, he snapped - enough to shock both the Lynel and the hinox with Urbosa's Fury. They were stunned, so you used that time to grab Link and start running for the gate. Your horses were running away, and you only managed to stop Link's horse and hoist him up onto it.
The hinox got angry and jumped up, flipped and then landed on the ground, causing everything to rumble. That rumble caused a large boulder to begin rolling down from the cliff, right towards you.
You whipped the reins of Link's horse, sending it off running after yours, and you could only leap backwards as the boulder crashed down in front of the gate, preventing you from leaving.
You heard the Lynel growl behind you, and you looked over your shoulder to see it walking towards you, the hinox right behind it. You took in a deep breath before running towards them, ready to face this practice duel.
"_____... _____?" Link looked up, pushing himself up to a sitting position to look back and see the gate blocked, and to hear the growling. "_____!!!" He stopped his horse, wincing a bit from the pain on his back, and he took a breath before using Mipha's Grace to heal himself. He got off his horse and ran back, trying to find a way to climb the boulder.
You got on the Lynel's back and stabbed it before jumping off and using your sword to hit the hinox in the eye, stunning it for a moment, and then your focus was back on the lynel. You jumped away from it, and then when it ran over you, you fell on your back and sliced through it's belly.
As it roared loudly and had to stop for a moment, you went back to attack the hinox. It was throwing things at you, but you kept dodging and continously hitting it, and you got a good few slashes on it before you noticed the lynel was back in the game.
You figured it would be your last few hits on it and that would be it, so you went in fast with your sword, but because of how confident you were, you failed to noticed it throwing its sword back at you, and it managed to give you a good sized gash in your hip.
You cried out and landed on the ground, panting as you looked up at the beast. Even in as much pain as you were in, you managed to run up and jump off the lynel, flipping backwards as you prepared your bow, and as you aimed at it in midair, you were knocked out of the air with a rock the hinox threw, and all you could feel was your body hitting the ground hard, and as your vision faded our, you heard a loud roar getting closer. The last thing you remembered hearing was the hinox growling loudly.
