"Great Deku Tree." You bowed down, one hand placed on the ground; the grass even more lush than the grass in Hyrule Field. Calm winds blew through the forest, and the rustling of the leaves brushing against each other was always a constant sound. You doubt it had ever halted, even since the last time you visited.

"Princess _____. King Rhoam." Rhoam bowed as well, and all the champions bowed their heads to the ancient tree, and his silence was enough for it to seem as if he was bowing back. "It has been long since you've visited the forest. Little luck?"

"Very little." You sighed, looking over at your brother in law, who had all his attention on the tree. "We've done all we can. We heard about the recent missionaries coming out to test their strength, and the one the queen had thought to be the hero, failed."

"Nolan Finn, yes. I hate to say, he was hardly as close as some of the others." You could hear Revali practically snort out a laugh, and while he was trying to stiffle the sound, you shot him a quick glare, which caused him to straighten his back and hold back the smile. "I hope with your visit you may have brought back any knights promising to you?"

"I cannot say for sure whether or not the hero is in our group," You looked behind you at all the young, nervous knights, most of which were still being trained under Minken. "But what I can tell you is if not this time, our training with them will only grow more intense and complex for their sake."

"Very well. Let us begin." The oldest of the boys in the group walked up, and after you, Rhoam and Janelle gave your respects to the forest guardian, so did the champions. Then the knights and few captains. "And what is your name, young man?"

"Peng Serlon." He told him pridefully, fingers to his chest as he looked down at the sword. "Son of our great council leader, Reeves." He had an... overly confident look on his face as the Great Deku Tree nodded, and he went on with trying to pull it.

But eventually fell to his knees with exhaustion, and Redd, his leader, had to pull him aside so someone else could try.

"I'm Sen." Another young adult tried to pull it, and again, he failed, and was pulled aside.

Knight after knight, failure after failure to pull the sacred sword. You and Rhoam both watched with your own claymores held with the tips towards the floor, and you started to grow more worried as each new knight tried and was found to be unsuccessful.

"That is it for my soldiers," Redd looked anything but happy, as like anyone, he wanted one of his knights to be the hero. "I'll have my other half next time, and I promise we'll do better." Minken didn't seem to be totally obsessed with it, as most of his knights were under the age of twenty.

"We're striving for there to not be a next time." You blurted, and all the captains looked over at you. You didn't speak further, as even that you felt was slightly out of term, and just went back to the stern look you were giving the sword.

"Next." Everyone watched as Minken's first knight went up, a young boy named Marcus. He took even a bit longer than the ones older than him, but still didn't achieve his goal. This went on for plenty more, as it had before.

So many knights now sat off to the side trying to catch their breaths, even the first ones to go. You tried to think positively, but it was seriously hard. Each knight that failed was another lost chance.

'Glass half full,' You told yourself. 'Each one that fails is narrowing us down closer to the hero.' Thinking about it the other way helped. A little bit. Other than that, you sounded like Rhoam with the 'lost chances'.

"Hm." The Great Deku Tree hummed as the last above eighteen failed. You all looked up at him, wondering what it was about. "Keep the others coming. Leave no stone unturned."
