“Good morning!” Link chirped as soon as he noticed your eyes open, and you stretched your arms out as a large yawn pried your lips open before releasing a breath out. “You took an awful long nap for someone who supposedly had a good night’s sleep.” You glanced over at him as he was packing up some stuff, getting ready to leave the next day. “I think we should leave first thing tomorrow morning. I want to go do the shrine up that hill and then we at least need one more night of comfort here. Who knows how long it could take us to get to Hateno?”

“That’s true.” You sat up and rubbed your eyes, throwing your blanket off of your body. “I was hoping to explore that forest a bit up there, see if there was anything neat or important, and even just to be sure the village is safe from any monsters.” You got off your bed and walked to your bag, pulling out the newest set of traveling clothes you had purchased from the armor shop. “We only have a few hours until nightfall, so we best get going so we have enough time to rest again.”

“Right.” While you were preparing your weapons after setting out your clothes, Link was still finishing his packing but glanced over at you from time to time. Three days here and most of the time you had spent sleeping. He started to worry a bit about you. Wondering if your little slumber in ice for the entire time had really taken that much of a toll on you.

Even still, you had thought nothing of it yet.

“Be safe in the forest! And make sure to tell me if you see anything cool!” Link called as you walked past the shrine he was heading to, and you waved back at him, walking backwards for just a few seconds.

“I will! Good luck with the shrine!” And with that, you were off on your separate paths. You were hoping to get at least a good look around, making sure Kakariko was free of any monsters and also that nothing strange was going on in the area. You had heard of some things from villagers, such as shrines and even a Great Fairy Fountain. That was something you wanted to see.

“Alright, let’s do this!” Link grinned as he was lowered inside the shrine, stepping eagerly off the circle, and looking around. It was just a large room with a gate at the end. And a hole in the middle…? He stepped cautiously closer to this hole, trying to figure out what this was going to be. He jumped a bit when the ground shook as he got too close, and up came the piece of ground that belonged there. Along with a guardian scout resting on top. “Oh boy…”

You hummed as you strolled into the forest, instantly feeling welcomed by the fireflies floating around and the little blue rabbit like creatures just relaxing in the shade. You carefully reached out to touch one, but as soon as it sensed your presence, it hopped away as fast as it could. They likely just hadn’t had contact with people for a while.

You were still comforted by the gentle breeze and soft rustling of the leaves. You took in the light scents of flowers and grass, and while it was nice, the peace didn’t last as long in your mind, As it made you think about the Great Plateau. And the Great Plateau made you think about Rhoam.

Long it had been since the Calamity struck, yet to you, it still felt like it happened no more than a week ago. Your memories were all still scrambled, you were seeing people and finding things that fit somewhere but without the connecting pieces, you were missing so much of the puzzle. You knew Rhoam was your brother-in-law, and if he was speaking of Princess Zelda as his daughter, that must’ve meant she was your niece. But who was her mother? Her mother must have been your sister then, right? Did you have any other siblings? And who even were your parents?

Nothing made any real sense anymore. You felt as though you remembered your entire past, everything you’ve done, but any people you saw in your memories were just blurs. Except for Link, Rhoam and Impa. Though, she was in very few of them. You knew Kass was somewhere in that puzzle, but his connecting pieces were also missing.
