“Okay, so the distance we have to Kakariko Village seems like a lot, so I think we should find ourselves horses before we really start our travels.” Link told you as he stared down at the Sheikah Slate, not paying much attention to where he was walking. You were curious about how long the forest ahead was, so you tried to peek in between some of the trees. And there you saw a red moblin, sitting on the ground, sleeping. You had to throw your arm out in front of Link to halt him behind you. “Hey- what?”

“There.” You pointed to the beast, and Link backed up a bit, starting to look frightened. You pulled your sword out, cautiously walking towards it. You got into the forest, Link a good few feet behind you, and as you inched closer, you remembered a technique. Something you had seen done by someone before. You brought your fingers up to your lips, and then blew- creating a large high-pitched whistle.

It woke the moblin, and as soon as it looked up at you, you gripped the hilt of your sword tight with both hands, raised it far above your head, and then threw it as hard as you could. It went spinning as it flew, perfectly striking the moblin right in the head. You rushed over to grab your sword while it was still distracted with pain, and you started whacking it over and over again.

Link watched in awe as you fought, carefully studying each and every one of your moves. Just as you were going in to throw the final blow, Link noticed the moblin reached to throw it’s weapon back towards you, even while you were thinking it was stunned for a moment, and he quickly grabbed his claymore and threw it at the moblin the same way you had, and that did it.

Instead of throwing out your last hit, you turned your lunge into a front roll once you saw the moblin had been defeated, and landed in a kneeled position, panting like a dog. You glanced to Link, who was running over to get his sword. He lifted it up off the ground, and you smiled and stood up, brushing the dirt and dust off of yourself.

“That was a good throw, Link.” You remarked, and he laughed nervously and waved it off. “As a matter of fact, your form looked even better than I believe mine was. Where did you learn such a power move?” You asked as you returned to his side, sliding your sword back into its scabbard.

“Oh, just a skilled warrior I think I may have known some time ago.” He shrugged, and you nodded, waiting for him to go on as it seemed he was trying to add to it. “Now that I think about it, that skilled warrior must have been the strong and valiant Scroll Wielder and princess of Hyrule!” He beamed, and you laughed and waved your hand before rustling his hair.

“Well, you two must have been pretty good friends for her to have bestowed knowledge like that upon a young knight such as yourself.” You started walking into the forest, and he had to jog for a couple seconds to catch up with you. “Either that, or… you were just lucky to have witnessed it.”

“I’m thinking lucky but I’m hoping it was because we were friends?” He guessed as he ran up to you, and you laughed more and placed your hand on his shoulder. “Were we friends…?”

“I suppose we were. Even before we met, we always had a sort of… connection. Ever since I saved the sword from the Shrine of Resurrection, I-“

“You saved the sword from the Shrine of Resurrection?” He asked, and you were about to add on and say yes, but then you remembered he didn’t remember even a little bit of that story. He barely just found out he was the hero.

“We’ll have to have a talk about that story once you get more information on the basic parts of the past. It’ll be easier to understand then.” You explained, and he agreed. Continuing on, you heard some Bokoblins close by. You crouched down quickly and pulled Link with you, and you peered out over the bush you were hidden behind to see how large the camp was.

It was fairly large, with a skull and a few wooden posts with monsters sat atop them waiting for something to come along.

And that next something would be you and Link.

“Ready on three.” After constructing a small plan, you and the hero were ready to carry it out and destroy the camp in a timely manner. It may teach Link some important things in the process, you figured, so it was a good practice. For both of you.

Once you released your bomb arrow, Link hurried out with his sword to attack the first mobs that were hurt in the explosion from your arrow. Once he was out there fighting melee combat with them, you rushed out after him and took down the two moblins guarding the treasure they had a hold on, and while you were busy doing that, Link was trying to get the bomb barrels off to the side. And, just as you had predicted, the explosions were not in the smartest range. You had to quickly leap out of the range, but at least it did the final blow on the moblin.

“Link?” You called as you stood up, looking around for him. “Link? Where are you?” You didn’t see him and started to worry. Where could he have possibly gone? Soon enough, you heard a whistle from above, and you looked up to see him standing on top of a very tall post, holding a small pack of arrows that he threw down to you. “Link!”

“There ya go, Miss Archer!” He slid down the ladder and landed on the ground within seconds and turned to you. “I apologize for the bombs, they weren’t in the plan and I know that. But I thought it would make it go a lot faster, right?” You rolled your eyes and nodded, and he grinned. “Right! I think our job is done here.” He started marching out of the area but quickly stopped and turned back around. “Oh, and also, I saw some horses over there! We should go get them!”

“Lead the way, Hero.” You said, and he started running out into the field so you had no choice but to run behind him to catch up.

“Here they are!” He pointed out to them, and you thought for a moment before crouching down and basically crawling towards them. Link followed you as quietly and quickly as he could, and once you were close enough, you reached for the horse, and managed to be fast enough to mount it. It kicked out it’s hind legs and started leaping around in an attempt to get rid of you, but after a few seconds, it finally calmed down after you soothed it.

Link and his horse on the other hand…
“Did you get-“ You stopped as you watched Link’s horse galloping fast around the field with him on it’s back, and you face palmed when you heard him yelling. “You’re supposed to catch it off guard! Not ride it WHILE it was already scared!” You sighed, and then rode your new companion over to try and help him with his… situation.

“WHAT DO I DO?!” He screeched, and you tried to get as close to him as possible without being too close to the frightened steed. “I don’t know how to stop it!”

“Just stay calm and try to soothe it!” You told him, and he made an attempt- one that bore absolutely no fruit for either of them. The only way you figured would work to stop the horse from running straight into the field – a field likely filled with guardians and more monsters – you rode as fast as you could, and then turned to stop right in front of Link’s horse.

It rose it’s body up as it halted, causing Link to have to hold on tight so he wouldn’t fall off. It let it’s front hooves fall back to the ground with the rest of its upper half, and you had to get off your horse and go to Link to teach him how to properly soothe it so it would be tame and start on the road to learning to like him.

So now you had horses, which made this first part of the journey a little easier.
