(Sudden scene change ahead)
Golden heels clicked against the sandstone steps as the chief wandered back out of the Kara Kara Bazaar, hearing that the one she was in search of was in fact there. She headed towards the palm trees that hid a certain spot, having to walk behind a trade merchant's set up to find it. Taking a deep breath, she pulled back the deep blue curtain in the way.
"Riju," Her grandmother whispered as she glanced up from the book she had been reading, and Riju dipped her head in a bow before walking slowly towards her. "What brings you here at this hour? I thought you were busy."
"Vaba, I met some hylians today that I thought you might know," Riju said meekly, and the older vai raised her eyebrow. "The Hylian Champions." Her eyes went wide. "They came seeking information about Vah Naboris so they could help free Lady Urbosa."
"I see," She looked over at the giant sandstorm in the distance, feeling the rumbling with each step Naboris took. "My sister." Sairvara sighed as she sipped her tea, inviting Riju to sit down as she patted the spot next to her. "I'm grateful that they survived that horrible day and will help us through the next, I only wonder how." Riju wanted to explain, but was quickly cut off. "Where are they now?"
"Buliara and I sent them to retrieve the Thunder Helm from the Yiga Clan. We cannot defeat Naboris without them." She told her, taking a cup of tea for herself. "Once they return, we'll be heading out as soon as possible to stop Naboris's rampage."
"I'm proud of you Riju." Sairvara smiled softly, placing her hand on the young chief's shoulder. "I hope you'll be able to complete the goal your mother and I never got to." She set her book down and leaned back against the tree. "Urbosa sacrificed her life to save Hyrule, and I'm certain her death was not in vain. Your mother did the same for you, Riju. And I know how proud she'd be of her daughter."
"Vaba!" Riju ran to her grandmother, who lifted her up with a bright smile. A cooler day than usual it was, perfect for riding Sand Seals and swimming. "I found some jewels in the sand!"
"You did? Well then, let me see!" She set the girl down and looked at the pretty blue gems she was holding, and then before she could speak, they were handed to her. "They are quite, beautiful, Riju, I- where are you going?"
"I wanna swim!" Sairvara giggled as she watched her granddaughter rush to the pond, but just as she went to jump in, she was caught. A gasp left her throat once she saw who. "Hey! Let go of me!"
"Unhand her at once!" She grabbed her sword and aimed it at the tall Yiga, who chuckled cruelly and held the young girl by her arm. "If you don't release my grandchild, I will have your head. Do you hear me- AH!" She fell backwards when another Yiga poofed in front of her- a much shorter and... plumper one.
"I don't think so, miss." He grabbed her sword and threw it behind him, and it was caught by another Yiga that appeared in between him and the soldier. "Take the girl back to the hideout. We'll head into town to find the chief, and- AGH!" Lightning struck down on all the present Yiga members, and the hand gripping Riju's wrist caused her to be shocked as well.
"There will be no need for that!" The chief rushed over, holding her sword out towards Kogha, who tried to stand but fell back down. She hurried to Riju, and looked all over her to make sure she was completely okay. But then more Yiga Soldiers showed up.
"Listen sweetheart," The Yiga with Sairvara's sword said, her mask already off and the curly grey hair now messy as it sat on her shoulders. Sairvara's eyes went wide. "We want no trouble. Give us the Thunder Helm and we leave you in peace. Or," She dragged her finger along the edge of Sairvara's blade. "We make this difficult."
"I will fight to protect that Thunder Helm and my family until the day I die." The chief snapped, and the Yiga woman laughed, throwing the sword back to Kogha.
"Take this back to the clan with you, darling." She swiftly drew her own two swords. "I'd like to run a test on the theory our chief here has." The chief held her sword up again, her other arm wrapped tightly around her daughter as she was kneeled on the floor. "Alright then, Chieftain. I'll have to take you at your word."
"Mother!" The chief snapped again, forcing all the yiga down once more. Sairvara ran over to her and kneeled by her and Riju. "Mother, take Riju and get back to Gerudo Town. You'll be safer there." She wanted to say no. She wanted to fight for her. "Please. I have to fight this battle. Just keep my daughter safe."
Sairvara nodded and grabbed Riju before running away, but she didn't get through before another Yiga blocked her path. She ducked and slid under him, managing to get up fast enough to continue running, traveling guards gathering at her sides.
"You're late," The woman spat, barely managing to stand- legs weak from the second strike. "And to think you call yourself to efficient one."
"My apologies to you and Kogha. I was only using the time I was given to attack with the element of surprise," He held one of his swords to the Chief's nose. "I'm quite good at surprising people."
"Yeah, well then maybe one day you could surprise me by being on time." She stood up, and Kogha wobbled over to her and grabbed her arm. "Don't blow your cover, baby brother." The chief prepared herself to fight once more, and that's where her real strength was tested.
And they did take the Chief at her word.
