PETER
Watching May die right in front of me was terrifying. The entire building was falling apart and she was fine, until I laid her down on a fallen piece of debris that acted as a back rest for her.

I couldn't even attend the funeral for her. I watched from far away as my grandparents cried and my grandmother couldn't even look at the coffin that held her little girl. Halfway through, I left the funeral, only coming back once the coffin was lowered into the ground. I walked up to May's grave, seeing the quote that she once spoke to me.

When you help someone, you help everyone.

"How do you know her?" I heard a familiar voice.

"Through Spider-Man. You?" I asked, seeing Happy wiping tears off his face.

"Same." He smiled.

"I lost a good friend a while back. It felt like this. It hurts 'cause they're gone, and then it hurts all over again because you remember what they stood for, and you wonder...is all that gone too?" I knew that Happy was talking about Tony.

"No, it's not gone. Everybody she helped...they'll keep it going." I reassured him, knowing how much of an impact May had on the community.

"You really think so?" He asked.

"I know it." I smiled.

"Take care of yourself, okay?" Happy patted my back, obviously not knowing who I was, but that I was someone affected by May.

"Yeah. Nice to meet you." I spoke, watching as Happy walked away from her grave.

For the first time in my life, I had no one. No friends, no family, nothing. I was alone at 18 years old.

Arriving at my new apartment, I handed in my first payment, heading inside.

I placed all of my belongings that still existed, onto the only desk in the apartment. Setting up my stuff, I looked at the only photo that I had left, a picture containing May, Ned, MJ and I at the airport on the day that Ned, MJ and I left for our trip to Europe.

Playing a song on my phone to calm myself down, I tried not to cry as I closed my eyes.

If "Happy Ever After" did exist, I would still be holding you like this.

"I'm so glad you're okay." May gave me a big hug.

"No, for real, I'm good. I'm actually really fine." I reassured her.

"Let's go. Where are your bags?" May asked before she realised.

"Oh, right. They got blown up." She laughed.

"Yeah." I smiled as she handed me a small yellow bag.

"I got you some hot buttered bagels." I got into the car.

"Thank you so much." I shut the door, May smiling.

"I know my boy." She really did know me.

Grabbing a tissue, I looked up at the roof, her face entering my mind.

And all those fairy tales are full of shit. One more fucking love song, I'll be sick.

"May, I need your help." I called out as I was struggling to get my tie done.

"Through or around?" I asked as she put on a video so we could both learn.

"Right? Heh-heh." I looked at May who seemed impressed.

"So, what's the plan?" I asked.

"Open the door for her." May was really helpful.

"Mm-hm." I nodded.

"Tell her she looks nice, but not too much because that's creepy." May sat down.

"Don't be creepy." I repeated what she was implying.

"When I dance with her, I'm putting my hands on her hips. I got this." I told May who seemed happy with my plan.

The night of Homecoming was the most fun I'd had with May, as she helped me tie a tie and she have me good advice.

Now I'm at a payphone.

"It's okay. We're okay, right?" I asked as I helped May off the ground.

"Yeah." She seemed a little winded.

"I think I broke my ribs." I groaned as I tried to breathe normally.

"This is all my fault, May. I should've just listened to Strange and let him send them back..." I struggled to breathe normally.

"You did the right thing." May smiled.

"It's not my responsibility, May." I was tired.

"No, Peter. Listen. You listen to me. You have a gift. You have power. And with great power, there must also come great responsibility." She acted as if she was some priest.

"Let's get out of here." I put my arm under hers, helping move her to the front doors that were shattered.

"Okay, let's go." I stopped when May wasn't moving much.

"What happened? Are you okay?" I asked, worried.

"Yeah, you're okay. What happened?" I looked at her, feeling the sting of all my cuts and gashes across my face and body.

"Just have to...to catch my breath..." Her breathing started to slow down.

"Okay. Well, catch your breath. I'm right here." I smiled, still holding her.

"We're gonna take our time, you catch your breath, and...and we'll take you to a Doctor, okay?" I almost hugged her.

"Are you okay?" I started to panic when she wasn't responding normally. I laid her down, her back against a piece of fallen debris.

"Somebody help. I need an ambulance." I yelled out to anyone who could hear me.

"Please, somebody..." I couldn't help but cry.

"What happened?" May asked, sounding weak.

"Nothing. You're okay. You're okay." I smiled, my hand holding hers.

"I'll just...catch my breath..." She looked away.

"Okay. I'm right here. I'm right here. I'm right here. We're okay. Just me and you." I looked around. When I didn't see her moving, I panicked.

"May? May?" I looked at her, her chest not moving, her eyes still like a deer trapped in front of headlights.

"Will you look at me, May? Please?" I removed the hair from her face. I could feel tears streaming down my cheeks.

"May? May? What are you doing, May? Please, will you just wake up and talk to me, please?" I shook her lightly, her body completely still.

"Peter!" I could hear my name being called in the distance.

"I'm sorry." I closed her eyes and stood up.

"I'm so sorry." I quickly ran out of the building, leaving May's body inside.

I eventually fell into a slumber, the feeling of tears streaming down my face sending me to sleep.
