A/N: This story is requested by wh0syn4h: Y/N is in a relationship with Tom and is Filipino. She teaches Tom how to cook a dish from the Philippines. While they're cooking, Tom subtly clings on to Y/N and asks her about the Philippines. (I am not Filipino. If there is something here that isn't right, please let me know and I'll fix it).

"So, what are we going to cook?" Tom asked as he walked into the kitchen, his phone in his hands.

"We are going to cook this. Chicken Adobo." Y/N smiled as she clicked on a YouTube video about how to cook the dish.

"Shall we get started?" He asked, smiling.

"Yep." Y/N clicked play on the video.

"Hey, Y/N. We've known each other for years, but I don't know much about your culture." Tom smiled as he helped her get the ingredients.

"What would you like to know?" She asked, starting to make the dish.

"Whatever you can tell me before you finish making the Adobo?" Tom suggested, causing Y/N to giggle.

"Sure. I'll start with...the respectful gesture. As children, every Filipino is taught the respectful gesture. This is done by gently striking the elder's right hand to the young's forehead. We all do this to show respect to our elders." Y/N smiled, pausing the video she was watching.

"So, like this?" Tom asked, doing the gesture that Y/N spoke about.

"Yes, exactly. But, I'm not your elder." She smiled, pulling away.

"Yes you are. You're older than me by 6 months." Tom laughed as he wrapped his arms around Y/N, kissing her neck.

"Tom. I'm not your elder. Your grandparents or your parents would be examples of your elders, not your girlfriend who's only 6 months older than you." Y/N laughed.

"Anyway, what about transportation. How would you get around in the Philippines?" Tom asked, pausing the video that Y/N had un-paused.

"They're called Jeepneys. They're basically buses but they are known for their crowded seating. They're also very colourful on the outside, which makes them very popular within the culture." Y/N smiled, showing him a picture of her and her mother on one.

"Wow. So cool. Hey, that smells delicious." Tom got side-tracked when he looked over at the chicken that had been sitting in the marinade.

"This is a Filipino dish made by braising chicken legs (thighs, and/or drumsticks, in a sauce made up of vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, and black pepper. It's tangy, salty, garlicy, slightly sweet, and spicy all at the same time. The chicken is slowly simmered in the sauce making it incredibly tender." Y/N spoke again before she continued with the recipe.

"Your culture is incredibly fascinating, Y/N." Tom kissed her as she prepared to get the dish out and ready.

"I guess it is. I mean, I grew up with it..." Y/N laughed as she finished making the dish, serving it up for her and Tom.

"Maybe one day I'll visit the Philippines. I mean, if it's food like this chicken adobo is good, then I wonder what the rest of it is like." Tom smiled.

"Well, maybe, I can cook more cuisine for you, right here, in this kitchen?" Y/N suggested. Tom smiled as he took a bite of the dish, smiling more and more.

"This is amazing." He put his fork down.
