Before I tell you my story, you need to understand that to most of the world, I saved my dad's life. Hi, my name is Maya Holland and my life is insane.
In 2001, I was born. When I was born, my mother got to hold me for a minute, but unfortunately, while I was being cleaned off, she passed away due to an existing health condition. You see, when my mom found out that she was pregnant, her doctor warned her that her pregnancy would be a high risk one. Wanting a child of her own, she proceeded. Like I said, she passed away, and grief-stricken, my father, afraid that he'd always be reminded of her, he gave me away. I was taken to an orphanage.
Some say that this was a sign, a door opening. Why? Well, also in 2001, a famous actor was arrested. His life was full of good and bad moments. He had a very good career in the acting industry, but a few times he got into trouble with the law. According to my adoptive grandmother, my father had no hope, but after she suggested to him that he find something that would give him some purpose, he did what any struggling actor would do. He wanted to adopt a child.
Now, of course, with his background and criminal past, he needed to clean up his act in order to adopt, so that's what he did.
The next thing I know, I'm being whisked away out of the orphanage, a new family waiting to meet me.
From then on, I was a 6 week old baby who was about to have her life changed because of who adopted her. The man who adopted me was Robert Downey Jr.
One moment, I was an orphan child who wasn't wanted, but the next moment, I woke up in a giant house, a woman holding me as she sang to me.
Life became insane. As I grew up, I was introduced to the world of Hollywood. I started attending Red Carpets and other massive events. I met amazing people and my father's career sky-rocketed when he landed the role of Tony Stark aka Iron-Man. When it was released in 2008, it took his career to another level.
What people didn't know, was that as a child, my dad would read me Marvel Comics about Iron-Man, and I had asked him to at least try and audition for the role. I didn't care if he did or didn't get it. I just wanted him to get back into acting, especially after reading about his life before he adopted me.
When he got the role, I was over the moon, and seeing how popular it was, I was so happy. Then, one after another, my father was pulled away to film his movies. There was one movie I was particularly excited for. Captain America: Civil War. I had been looking forward to this movie, as I would be allowed to visit the set and say hello to a lot of my friends.
What I didn't expect was to meet a man who was around my age, working with 30-50 year old men.
His name...Tom Holland. Meeting Tom was like meeting my best friend that I thought I had known for years. We got along great. We had the same interests and the fact that I visited the set often enough to hang out with him made our friendship amazing.
After Civil War was finished filming, Tom asked me to be his girlfriend. I accepted. Our relationship was rocky at first, with somewhat different schedules, but after some advice from my father, we made it work.
The filming of Spider-Man: Far From Home saw a leap in our relationship. Tom proposed to me and I could never say no to him.
Now, we're happily married, and have been for 2 years. Kids are still happening a while away, but we are happy.
In reality, I could've never imagined that I would've been adopted by a famous actor, before my life turned into a movie. I grew up around people who really loved me. I got to help my father gain his career back. I met a man who made me happier than I had ever been. And now, we live happily, only an hour away from my father.
