Yao's flushed face grew even redder. His dark orbs widened with nervousness as we maintained eye contact the whole time. My own heart pounded in anticipation.

He finally parted his lips, about to say what he had in his heart.

"(Y/n), I―"

Suddenly, the elevator door opened.

"Noona! Hyung! Welcome ba―"

In front of the elevator, Mei and the others stood frozen in place. Their smiling faces were now filled with utter confusion.

We all looked at each other, an awkward silence between us.

"Oh no! We ruined teacher and (Y/n)'s romantic moment!!" Mei shrieked.
"Aaah!! Hyung, please don't kill me, da-ze!!" Young Soo cried.

"Stop creating a commotion, aru!" Yao scolded them.

The lobby went quiet. Some people looked at our direction curiously.

Clearing his throat, Yao stepped out into the lobby. I sighed and followed him.

Again, I couldn't get to know how Yao felt about me. My face dropped into a frown, thinking about how I had to wait for his answer.

The others caught up to us. As we walked, Mei leaned in and whispered to me. "We're sorry. We didn't mean to do that," she apologized, frowning.

I gave her a warm smile. "It's alright. I know you didn't do that on purpose. And I know Yao realizes that too," I told her.

Her lips curled up into a smile as she pulled me into a hug.

"What are you two doing, aru?" Yao looked at us, confused.

"Teacher, this is girls' stuff! You shouldn't be sticking your nose into it!" Mei stuck out her tongue at him.
"Aiyah, so rude, aru!"

We laughed as the night grew into a bonding session with countries who treated each other as siblings.

On our way back to Yao's place, he sighed while looking outside the car window.

"What's wrong, Yao?" I asked.
"It's so unfair, aru...they ruined such an important moment," he mumbled to himself.

I couldn't help but softly chuckle.

Even though he looked so dejected, Yao's innocent words never failed to touch my heart.

"Why don't you say it now then, Yao?" I teased him.

A scarlet blush grew on his cheeks as he glanced at me. I shyly smiled at him.

Turning towards me, Yao put his hand on top of mine and looked intently into my eyes. His sudden approach made my heart skip a beat.

He leaned forward till there was only a few inches left before our faces touched.

"(Y/n)..."

His gaze was passionate yet gentle. My breath almost got caught in my throat as we stared deep into each other's eyes.

"I..."

He leaned even closer towards me. I shut my eyes, unable to control my throbbing heart on what was about to come next.

"...will tell you soon, aru."

I opened my eyes and looked up at Yao, confused. He gazed at me with a gentle smile.

Heat soon rose to my face as I realized I was expecting something else from him just now. "T-That..b-but Yao..." I stammered.

Yao chuckled. "Disappointed, aru? Should I have done something else?" he smirked.

My face already felt so hot, I thought I was going to faint here.

A small 'ahem' from the driver's seat interrupted us and we quickly shifted to our original places, embarassed.

I took a glance at Yao.

He sat there, golden light from the city lamps falling on his face and radiating a warm glow from his handsome features, as he glanced back at me and smiled.

I'm still waiting for your answer, Yao. And I will always cherish that smile of yours in my heart.
