Yao found himself in a dark place. He couldn't see anything around him. Only darkness surrounded him.

"Where am I, aru...?"

"Japan..."

He heard a familiar voice behind him. He turned and winced his eyes as a bright light flashed before him.

As his eyes adjusted to the light, he found himself in a bamboo forest.

"This is..." Yao looked around him in astonishment as he recognized the place.

"Japan, come here, aru..."

The Chinese man turned around. His eyes widened as he saw himself standing before him.

"T‐That's me, aru..."

His counterpart searched around for someone. He sighed as no one responded.

"Japan? Where are you, aru? We're getting late!"

A small boy came out of the bamboos. Yao gasped as he recognized who it was.

"Japan, aru..."

"Look, Mr. China. I found him there..."

Yao watched as the young boy showed the other Chinese country the rabbit that he was holding.

"Aww, how cute, aru! But we must let him go now. He has to return to his family, aru."

The small country frowned as he let the rabbit go. His elder brother patted on his head as they walked away.

Everything went dark again.

"W‐What happened, aru?!"

Yao looked around him again but saw nothing.

"Yao..."

Yao recognized that voice immediately. He turned around again only to be faced by a blinding light again.

"Yao...be careful of that child..."

He finally opened his eyes and saw his counterpart standing in front of his boss. The green dragon held a grim air about him.

"What do you mean, aru?! Japan is my little brother!"

The dragon closed his eyes and concentrated.

"I can see...bloodshed..."

"I don't believe you, aru! I don't!!"

All of a sudden, all went black.

"This can't be, aru..." Yao thought to himself. "This is ‐"

"Mr. China..."

Yao realized what he was about to see next. He slowly turned around to witness the scene unfolding before him again.

A village almost in ruins. Kiku stood there with a blood‐stained sword in his hand. Yao's other self was on the ground, protecting a child with his life.

"Japan, please don't do this, aru!"

"You have disappointed me, Mr. China...Our paths are not the same anymore. It ends here."

Kiku raised his sword in the air and swung it down.

"Noo!!" Yao cried out.

He fell on his knees and broke into tears as everything darkened around him again.

"I lost...I lost everything dear to me, aru...I lost everything..."

He felt hopeless and depressed. And this wasn't the first time he experienced these feelings. His flowing tears helped wash away the pain from his heart a bit. But he still felt devastated.

"Yao..."

He heard a soothing voice in front of him. He looked up to see a warm ray of light before himself.

"Who is..."

"Yao...I will always be with you..."

Yao raised his hand towards the light.

"You are..."

The light went brighter and engulfed him. Soon everything became visible to him as he woke up from his dream. Yao sat up on his bed and looked at his hand.

"(Y/n)..."
