After washing my face, I came out of my room and headed towards the kitchen again.

Yao wasn't there. I found Ludwig and Ivan icing the cake. I felt nervous. After all, I had left without saying anything so they had to do all the work.

"Excuse me..." I finally spoke up.

They turned. "(Y/n), how's your hand now?" Ludwig asked. They walked up to me.

"It's better now. I'm sorry for the trouble I caused," I apologized.
"No problem. We're just glad that you're okay, da."

I gave them a weak smile. I wasn't feeling jubilant as before.

I noticed Ludwig carefully observing me. "Is there something wrong, Ludwig?"
"(Y/n), I don't know what happened between you and China. But breaking down like this isn't an option."
I nodded, still downhearted.

The two countries took the cake and headed out. However, before leaving, Ludwig turned to me.

"Everything will be alright. China isn't the type of person to keep grudges." He gave me a rare smile before going.

He was right. I should keep my composure. As a guest, I couldn't be a burden on them. And I know Yao...He will forgive me.

Taking a deep breath, I followed them towards the hall.

The other countries had decorated the room wonderfully with colourful balloons and streamers. I giggled as I thought that it seemed like a kid's birthday party.

"Hey, guys! I received a call from France! He's bringing them here!" Alfred announced.

All the lights were turned off and everyone hid behind anything that they found. After a few moments, the door creaked open.

"Ve~ Why are all the lights turned off? Germany! Germany!"
"That potato‐bastard must be messing with us. I swear I'll ‐ "
The lights turned on.

"Surprise!!"

"Aahhh!! Don't kill me! Don't kill me! I'm still a virgin!" Feliciano hid behind Francis.
We came out of our hiding places and warmly wished them.

"Happy Birthday, Italy and Romano~"

The brunette Italian peeked from behind Francis while his older brother stood there with an astonished look on his face.

"W‐Wait, so this is all for us?" Lovino asked.
"That's right, dude!" Alfred gave him a thumbs‐up.
"Ve~ Is there pasta?"
"Sure!"

Ludwig stepped forward with the cake in his hands. "Happy Birthday, Italy and Romano."

The brothers stood still for a while, staring at him until Lovino's hands started shaking. He seemed as if he was about to cry. "You...you potato‐loving bastard!" He raised his fist to hit Ludwig but stopped it in mid‐air.

We all watched in silence.

"T‐Thank you...you bastard..." he said, looking away. His eyes were moist.

Feliciano used his sleeves to wipe off his own tears. "Ve~ Thank you very much, everyone."

We smiled.

"Alright, dudes! It's time to cut the cake! Let the hero cut it!"
"You idiot! Today's not your birthday!"
"Who cares? I just want the cake!"
"Urgh..."
"Nahahahaha!"

The celebration started. We clapped as the twins blew the candles and cut the cake. Alfred tried to take the whole cake for himself but the other countries stopped him. I couldn't help but laugh.

I was having a great time, but then everyone started handing their gifts.

Gifts? Oh no, I don't have any present ready for them...I looked to see that I was the only one left.

Walking up to them, I thought of apologizing. "Umm, excuse me? Feliciano, Lovino?"
They looked at me.
"Bella! Thank you very much for the present!"
"Thank you, bella~ Ve~"

Wait, what present were they talking about?

"Umm, present?"

"Yeah! The one which you told China to give us. You don't have to be that shy of us, bella," Lovino laughed.

Yao gave them a present...on my behalf?

I stood there, still thinking. Yao...Why does he always do such things? Why does he care for me so much? Only one person can give me the answers...Yao himself.

I took off and searched for Yao amongst the other nations. A few of them stared as I ran past without greeting them. Right now, my top priority was Yao and I had to find him!

Just then, I saw him. His back was turned to me.

"Yao!" I called, turning him around.

"Uh, who are you?"
