Fuck, where are the stairs again?

I move through the halls, adjusting the shirt I just stole off some employee I knocked out cold.

"Yo, you see the target?" Zack's voice crackles through my earpiece. One of my best friends—and the most annoying one when he gets chatty.

"No, but I don't think checking every five-point-two seconds is helping either," I grit out, weaving through the crowd.

Zack laughs like this is a game, and I tap the earpiece, shutting him off.

Loud cheering erupts from inside the building. The fight's about to start.

Someone slams into my shoulder, and for a second, I consider slitting their fucking throat. I don't. Progress, right? Instead, I keep walking, slipping into a side hallway that's less crowded.

Fuck that shit.

I glance behind me, making sure no one's tailing me—right before I crash into someone. My watch hits the ground with a dull clink.

"Oh, I'm sorry," a soft voice says.

I crouch to grab it, then glance up—

Damn.

She's beautiful. Big, soft eyes that could ruin a man. Full lips, a smile that's all sunshine and trouble.

"That was definitely my fault," I say, letting out a quiet laugh. I take in her hoodie, the way her hands are wrapped. "I'm guessing you're the star of the night?"

She shrugs, coy but confident. "That all depends if I win."

I glance at my watch.

Shit.

"I'll be watching. Good luck." I flash her a grin as I step around her. Beautiful or not, I've got a job to do—and if I don't kill this mark, things get messy.

I slip through the last of the crowd, find the staircase, and climb all the way to the top, where the catwalk stretches over the arena. The view is perfect, every detail falling into place for the shot.

I walk across it and stop when I spot my target in the ring.

Well, that's not going to work.

I flick my earpiece back on. "Zack, our target is the fighter? Maxine Lordess?"

"Mmhmm," he hums, sounding way too pleased with himself.

I shut him off again.

Maxine pissed off the wrong people. Now she's on my list.
