Jisung gulped as he raised his foot from the ground. Looking around, Jisung's pupils were shaking. After he reassured no one's around him. He let out a relieved sigh and took another step.

It was difficult to see his path, he was walking in the blind spot of the guards, so he wasn't provided with any lights. Perhaps it's a good thing Jisung memorized the palace from top to bottom but still even though he knows the way, Jisung isn't knowledgeable about the unexpected obstacles in the trail. He carefully walked to the nearest wall then stopped his tracks to check if someone saw him.

Feeling certain about having no guards tailing behind him, Jisung stepped on a huge rock. His arms reached the top of the wall, when he felt steady, his legs naturally followed. Jisung scanned the area behind the wall and finally jumped.

And for the first time in his life, Han Jisung, the crown prince of Silla, is outside the palace walls.

His eyes sparked in joy, his heart felt giddy and restless.

As he came closer to the town, Jisung's stopped his steps and held his chest.

He has been dreaming of this since he was young, now that he passed adolescence, he wanted to see it. He wanted to be in it.

When Jisung was young, he lived a mundane and comfortable life. The list of tasks he needed to do were constant. In one day, all he needed to do was to eat, study and sleep then repeat. He never had anything to do besides those. But Jisung didn't hate nor loved it, he got used to it. He was never forced to do anything, the king and the queen did nothing but shower the crown prince with their affection and Jisung appreciates them.

He does, but he can't help but to feel curious. He wanted to know the story behind the roars he heard every autumn, the delicacies he read in the books, the people whom he will serve when he becomes the king. He wanted to know everything.

To be one step away from his goal, it felt nerve wrecking. Jisung never imagined to be in this spot. Countless of questions flooded his mind, he suddenly felt afraid. Terrified about the fact, they might recognize him and if they did, what will they do? What should he do? Will they be able to recognize him? With his ragtag clothes and smeared face, his appearance screamed poverty, will they be able to identify him?

It should be impossible, but his features were strong, his delicate face and brave eyes resembled his parents. He is truly the product of the king and queen. Anyone even with naked eye could say he is indeed royal.

Or maybe he should push those thoughts aside and live in the moment. It's only been minutes since he left the palace, and he is already discouraging himself for nothing.

Jisung pushed the senseless thoughts out of his head and ran towards the light.

Like a little kid going to the toy shop, Jisung looked at everything with pure astonishment and eagerness. His eyes beamed as people walked pass him as if he is nothing.

When a person bumped into him, Jisung grinned at the contact and bowed at the person. It must be crazy to see someone happy when they got shoved, but for Jisung, it felt amazing. In the palace, no one even dared to converse with him even for a second. They feared him. His servants don't even spare him a glance, their eyes were always plastered on the floor. And Jisung understands, he understood when he learnt about the rules inside the palace, it clicked in Jisung's head. His servants were cautious about him since they didn't know what kind of person Jisung was. In the palace, if people offend or harm any higher ups, the chances of being beheaded is off the roof. Thus, why Jisung lived a lonely life, no one ever interacted with him except for his busy parents that would only visit him twice every half-moon. No one tried to connect with him, they just stood by his side, watching him as if he were a gemstone needed to be protected.
