Title: Perhaps, this is love (Chishiya's view)
When Chishiya first met Arisu, he thought the guy was dumb and wouldn't last long.
Logically speaking, people who care too much would result into creating their own demise. The more they think about the differences they could have done in one scenario, the more they plow deeper into their grave.
So, Arisu, who values life dumbly, couldn't possibly last long in this damned world filled with humans like Chishiya. It's like throwing a rabbit inside a cage full of hyenas.
But Chishiya is aware that Arisu is capable. The man showed he didn't lack intellect when it comes to games. However, his compassion will get to him soon. It's just the matter of time. It's a great thing they met in a spades game. If not, Chishiya wouldn't hesitate on sacrificing him if needed.
It's true Arisu indeed holds potential. But, in this world, it's survival of the fittest. Anyone could have potential as long as they are desperate to live. So, Arisu wasn't special. A pawn with a crown, a guy with a different shade of grey, Arisu is just one of the many. So Chishiya didn't care about him after the game.
It will be a different story if they cross paths again. But Chishiya doubts it will ever happen.
.
Turns out Chishiya was wrong. The guy survived and even got here to the beach.
To say the least, It was surprising. Chishiya is rarely wrong- it's debatable. But still, Arisu, who seemed like a weakling, survived afterall.
It felt... funny.
Perhaps Chishiya underestimated Arisu too much.
It wasn't the time to dwell on that, now that Arisu appeared to be strong. It changed everything.
If Arisu survived for this long, it means he'ld be useful for Chishiya. Call him a wildcard, someone Chishiya could use to divert attention.
It wasn't a bad idea.
"It's a bad idea" Kuina doesn't know what she's talking about. Chishiya dismissed her comment from his mind and continued to think how the plan will be executed.
"We need to get the cards one way or another"
"There has to be another way" She retaliated "A way where no one could get hurt"
That sentence made Chishiya face Kuina "Have you grown attached to them?" Kuina didn't speak, her eyes already spoke in volumes so she didn't need to. Chishiya got the message.
He rose his eyebrows "Oh" a tone Kuina should have been familiar with, yet she still desperately tried to waver Chishiya.
"Can't you just think of anything?" Kuina said it with tears on the edge of her eyes.
But truthfully, Chishiya couldn't careless. His gaze traveled around, acting as if he was thinking then shrugged "I don't see how that's my problem" Slowly bringing his eyes back to Kuina's.
Kuina looked stunned. Of course, she is. With her hands placed on her hips, mouth pressed into a thin line, and her eyes blinking at a fast pace. Chishiya could tell Kuina is angry.
"You're such an asshole" Chishiya is used to being called one, so he simply gave Kuina a smile and then patted her shoulder.
"We have our own goals, Kuina. Don't forget why we're here in the first place" He gave Kuina a final glance then left the rooftop.
.
Sending Arisu to his doom, burning Niragi, and having all the cards. The effects weren't as bad as he thought. Rather, nothing happened to Chishiya. He got away with it. Like always.
