Homiya Shishio has always been an enigma. With his rude approach along with his intimidating presence, a smart man whose thoughts are too complex to understand. Wakamiya has always wondered if a man like him had someone in his life. It crossed his mind one afternoon when asked why did Shishio became a detective. Though it's fairly obvious it is to feed his curiousity, Shishio isn't a predictable person like that. So, Wakamiya has been engrossed with Shishio's love agenda, because if it isn't something personal, then it must be due to romance. He caught a few glimpse to prove Shishio is indeed a romantic person, though he shows it subtly, whenever the mystery is about lovers, he would greatly emphatise with them for some strange reasons. He isn't the type to show emotions with his clients, so, for him to give advise, guide those people who lost their lovers, Wakamiya guessed Shishio must have lost a lover. He must have thought he've done a grave sin for him to punish himself like this.
What could it be?
Wakamiya grabbed his coffee and watched Shishio shuffle through papers, probably for their new case. Eto has been coming here, screaming about a lovers suicide, again. Their recent cases were about love, it didn't even take long for Shishio to agree, he just accepted, it's weird to see Shishio interested on these stuff. Three years ago, Shishio wouldn't bat an eye to this type of cases, now Wakamiya wonders why his taste suddenly changed. What happened in those three years?
"Aha! Wakamiya-chan, I think we should get moving" As soon as Shishio spoke, Wakamiya grabbed his jacket from the cabinet then asked "Where to?"
Seeing Shishio smirk, Wakamiya felt happy Shishio came back. Three years isn't a joke, he really did miss Shishio. So, for Shishio to do the things he used to do as if nothing happened, Wakamiya felt thankful he didn't change by one bit.
.
The room of the victim, Takeda Asahi. Judging from the frames pinned in the bulletin board, he values his family. It's easier for Wakamiya to point out the things on the surface, being with Shishio helped him increase his deduction skills. However, he knows he's still no match to Shishio. He's built different and Wakamiya accepts it now.
Unlike before, his eyes aren't filled with envy whenever Shishio limits him into certain things. He just leaves Shishio with whatever and let's him do whatever he wants.
Along the way, Wakamiya learned another skill, he learned to be stealthy. Wakamiya also changed, instead of standing in the sidelines, he's now following Shishio whenever he goes. Wakamiya won't let another suicide mission happen before his eyes, this time, he will never come too late. Perhaps he developed ptsd, he can't seem to remove his eyes from Shishio lately.
"Wakamiya-chan, have you talked to the victim's family?" Ah, that's one thing he hasn't done yet. He's been busy following Shishio instead of doing his job. He knows it's not essential to the investigation anyways so Wakamiya decided to fluke it, Shishio will find out everything even with a little amount of evidence.
"Yes, they are a normal family, they didn't mention anything too special" A lie, Shishio can spot a lie instantly. Wakamiya knows it, he wants Shishio to initiate the visit for them to go together, not separately.
"You're not built to lie, Wakamiya-chan" Wakamiya felt Shishio's presence behind him, he didn't dare to face him "Let's go to the victim's family" How did he know Wakamiya is lying? That's something Junichi can't decipher. He's not looking at Shishio when he lied, he tried to sound casual but Shishio still saw right through him.
"It's because of the bulletin, behind it, I saw different pictures. Takeda looks more happier in those photos than he ever was with his family. He's hiding them, why? simple, his family didn't approve their relationship, Takeda Asahi hid everything related to his lover" As if Shishio could read his thoughts, Wakamiya nodded hearing his deduction. If only Wakamiya saw it beforehand, he could have examined their faces more. Wakamiya has doubts on Shishio's ability to read a picture, there are cases where he fails to recognize human emotions. Shishio solves cases with pure facts, he puts a bit of emotional input but mostly his deduction is based on the present clues laid out on the floor, so he often presents his deduction with little remorse or empathy. Whether it's accidental, indirect, planned, Shishio simply didn't care as long as he solves the mystery.
