Jungwon knows his fate. Sunghoon's fate. A bunch of negatives blaring in red, they weren't meant to have a positive run, just a wretched and frivolous one.

It was etched on stone since day one. Why did Jungwon go on with this path? He knew the path towards him was withering, yet he still let Sunghoon stick with him.

Or perhaps it's Sunghoon's flowery words that lured Jungwon into believing there was hope. Or maybe Jungwon forced himself to believe there was hope because people choose to believe what's usually convenient.

Whether it was him or Sunghoon, to argue whom, does it still matter?

In the end, he still closed his eyes. Hearing nothing but muffled cries from Sunghoon and the tuning sound of his heartbeat concluding into a monotonous beep.

At first, Jungwon didn't exactly expect to die.

Who would?

To live a long life, to grow old with the stupid choices he would make.

Dying was the last thing in his mind.

Exams were the first thing he needed to prioritize above anything else. It was what's important in a Korean student's mind after all. To study, get into a university, and then settle. It's common sense.

Then comes the problem.

"Park Sunghoon, stop sleeping in my class" Jungwon isn't studious, really, but to see the guy who always comes in the last place yet again make a scene. Jungwon can't help but think, why don't Park Sunghoon just drop out already?

Not in the rude way of course, Jungwon knows the rumors about Park Sunghoon getting into some big event for skating. If Sunghoon could do that, what's stopping him from dropping out? Jungwon would choose any option apart from studying in a heartbeat.

"I'm sorry" Sunghoon mumbled, his words still slurred and his eyes were in-daze. Clearly, he hasn't fully woken up.

Giggles from his female classmates were heard. It wasn't a surprise, Park Sunghoon is a hearttrob in their class.

Must have been awesome to live with that handsome face and talent.

"But you're also cute?" Jay has always been like this. Whenever Jungwon talks about how someone is attractive nor better, he always diverts to hyping Jungwon.

"Thanks, but he's really far from me, it feels... I don't know, unreachable." He says, he doesn't exactly know why he is telling Jay shit about Sunghoon but somehow he wants to let it out.

"Eh, I mean, I heard about him but who cares really?" Exactly. Why does Jungwon suddenly care?

"Don't get insecure all of a sudden, Won" but it wasn't insecurity.

A physics project, and they've become partners. To even produce an idea, it was hard, especially when both of them weren't interested in physics.

"Alright! Good, we got that settled, thanks Pres!" He must have something important going on today.

Not only Park Sunghoon spammed his phone with apologies, he also bombarded Jungwon with apologies whenever he spots him.

In the end, Jungwon gave in and wrote his name in the project.

He was getting annoying.

If only Sunghoon showed that much enthusiasm in their project maybe it wouldn't end up like this.

Park Sunghoon wanted to make it up to Jungwon after bailing the project by treating Jungwon a meal.

That wasn't enough compensation. Really. So, Jungwon doesn't know what Sunghoon expects.

"Thanks, but you do know this isn't enough for the project, right?"

Park Sunghoon treated Jungwon meals every damn day just because of that one project.

Sunghoon didn't need to go this far. Jungwon isn't sure how guilty he feels, but this is too much.

"You can stop buying me lunch"

Sunghoon rose his brows. He tilted his head, confused by Jungwon's words "Why?"

"It's just one project, Sunghoon-sshi. I thought this would go on for a week, not 2 months"

But that doesn't mean Park Sunghoon didn't sit next to him and eat his own lunch like it's a normal thing the next day.

He doesn't know why Sunghoon is hanging around him, but Jungwon feels like a human balloon, waiting to be burst. He isn't sure why and how, but sitting next to Sunghoon felt incredibly overwhelming.
