𝕳ouse pride isn't unusual at Hogwarts, it seemed every student was proud of their house, especially each individual things. Some it was their house colours or characteristics, some it was quidditch, for me it was the common room. If there's one thing I love about being a Hufflepuff, it's the common room and dorms.

Located on the basement floor near the kitchens, the barrels lead into a very open and rounded common room, with high circular windows on the spots between the wall and ceiling, with many vines and leaves growing on the walls of the common room- pure, stereotypical Hufflepuffs, with plants and trees filling the entire room. From the very first time I set foot into my common room, I felt a sense of home and comfort, from the yellow colours, the friendly people, the comfortable chairs and barrel tables we can gather around to talk or complete our homework, a soft, tasseled blanket placed underneath to be gentle against our feet.

The dorms were just as brilliant. No steps or long pathways, dotted around the common room were four barrel shaped exits, two for girls, years 1-4 and the other years 5-7, and the same for boys, although we usually just stay in the same dorms throughout the years and add the first years into whatever dorm rooms were left from the seventh years. Unlike any other house, Hufflepuff dorm rooms housed three people each, a similar set out to the common room with the rounded shaped room, but these contained three large double beds with yellow soft covers and blankets, with curtains hanging around our wooden canopies for when we wanted privacy.

Each dorm also had their own individual bathroom with a shower, toilet, bath tub- everything in a usual bathroom. Helga wanted to make sure each Hufflepuff was safe and protected and felt a sense of belonging in our common room and dorms, and I feel that is why she's the best founder- i'm not biased in any way at all. Every room always had a warm glow, dim orangey yellow lighting from fire or light switches, alluding to the ambience of the badger place.

It was truly like a badger burrow- an underground network with many tunnels.

"Can I say again how much I love this common room" Scarlette groaned when we walked through the barrel inside, the girl immediately walking forward and sitting in her favourite comfy chair, a knitted blanket dropping on her immediately, a dreamy sigh escaping her lips.

"Yes, you tell me every time you come in here" I laughed softly, sitting on the chair beside her, smiling at my dorm mates, Dottie and Charlotte in our year as they walked past, sending each other small waves. Technically, students from other houses aren't allowed to go into each other's common rooms, but as a Hufflepuff I feel it's my duty to be kind and friendly, which is why Scarlette has been coming in here since first year when we made friends.

Sprout doesn't seem to mind either, she likes Scarlette and she knows how good of a friend she is to me, which is why she doesn't blink an eyelid.

"I could nap in here all fucking day" She muttered, closing her eyes, "The smell of the fresh plants, warm honey....and those amazing cookies you're all baking all the time. Why couldn't I be a fucking badger?"
