𝕽emus rested his arm around the waist of his Willow protectively in their seats in the classroom, the Hufflepuff positioning their copy of 'Romeo and Juliet' in between them, occasionally flipping the page after a while but both knew neither were reading the tragedy like they usually would.
Tensions were high in the castle, especially in their group. It was only the previous night, their friend Mary Macdonald stumbled into the Gryffindor common room trembling and distraught due to Mulciber trying to aim a dark curse at her from behind. Fortunately she managed to block the curse, fight back and run away just in time— she got lucky. He intended for her to hurt, for her to suffer, for her to possibly die, and the looming thought there's more secretive students with the same ideology and plans roaming the castle walls has made everyone more aware and on guard.
A calming draught and a dreamless sleep potion later, the curly haired witch was cooped up safely in the Gryffindor dorms, the rest of the girls alternating to stay with her throughout their lessons so she doesn't get frightened if she wakes up alone or has a nightmare.

James and Peter were locked in a quiet discussion close by, the bespectacled boy twirling his wand skill-fully in between his fingers.
"Practical or textbook lesson?" He asked me, my lips pursing in thought, leaning my side further into his and enjoying the warmth as I decided,
"I have a hunch a practical lesson after yesterday. Perhaps some duelling, we haven't done that in a while and I want to see how my non verbal is"
"Who needs non verbal magic when you can throw fire and I can bite people?" He jokes, grunting when I reached my hand up to sneak inside his robes, pinching his side playfully. He buries his face into my hair and tugged on my earlobe with his teeth, mumbling, "You're lucky you're cute"
"Cute like a house?" I sighed softly, turning to look at him when he leans back, a scowl on his face despite his lips desperately fighting his smile until he broke out in a chuckle, agreeing,
"A chocolate house"
"The feels so long ago" I mumbled, a flash of nostalgia glimmering in his amber eyes as he thought in remembrance, laying his fingers under my chin to pull me closer when he leaned in, whispering,
