𝕿he new year seemed to be flying faster than we had all imagined it would, the remaining months we would still be students at Hogwarts were limited. Still, the thought of not attending here anymore was one that was quite hard to believe, especially when it's all you've known for seven years.
But we're all older now, we're more mature than the eleven year olds with awkwardly fitting robes and knobby knees...whether we weren't all a group then, we are now and have been for the last three years. Three years that feels like a lifetime.
Valentines day had been and gone, and whilst majority of the students able had dates and ventured to Hogsmeade due to it falling on the weekend, Remus and I decided to stay behind.
We spent the day lazying around and cuddling under a blanket in front of the crackling fire in the lion's den, fortunately being victims of listening to Scarlette and Sirius' date when they returned back, the pair having decided to go to Madame Puddifoots tea shop to mock and make a joke out of it. They had the giggles for the rest of the day, unable to stop making jokes at how disgustingly pink and romantic it was.
Now, I was more concerned about Remus' birthday coming up. He would be the fourth in our group to turn eighteen, and to say it's supposed to be a big birthday, he's not bothered about it at all. James, on the other hand is ecstatic and is planning great things for his birthday, which Remus prefers as it takes the limelight off him— we'll probably do something small and not make a big deal out of it. His birthday, his decision after all.
"I've had a letter from Chudley Cannons about training for them when we leave here" James piped up, snapping me from my trance as we all peered over to him over the breakfast table as he scanned the letter in his hands, chewing on his lip,
"And what do you think about that, mon cerf?" Regulus asks, sipping his dark coffee whilst keeping his eyes trained down on his own book, James shrugging,
"Doesn't matter, I won't have time. Between the Order and training to be an auror with Padfoot, it would be too much. There's more pressing issues with war, suppose I could always join in a few years once it's all settled down" He muttered quietly, glancing up to the professor's table and blowing an exaggerated kiss to Mconagall when she caught his eye, arching her eyebrow to him.
"Fuck yeah, Prongs, can you imagine how many Azkaban cells we'll fill in our days? We'll be brilliant!" Sirius claimed, reaching with his fork to Scarlette's plate and taking a section of her drenched in syrup pancake, a glare settling on her face when he pushed it into his mouth, sending her a wink.
"Five galleons they manage to accidentally lock themselves inside one of them and won't be able to get out" Remus leans down to whisper in my ear, my lips parting as I laughed lightly, nudging his side playfully, and mumbling,
"Don't joke about that, the dementors won't be the best of help for them. They'll give them a kiss"
"I can think of a few who deserve that kiss" He sighed, peering over Peter's shoulder towards the Slytheirn table whilst running a hand through his sandy locks, grimacing when he caught sights of the maniacal and wicked smirks of Avery, Mulciber and Snape.
