"𝕳i"
Peter greeted sheepishly, perching on the spot besides the hufflepuff on the couch of the Potter manor, her head raising from the tattered book she was currently reading, a plain expression on her face as he acknowledges him, returning simply,
"Hello"
"What are you reading?" He asks, scratching the back of his neck nervously as he shuffles further back into the seat, her silently staring at him for a few moments before she looked down to the book and showed him the front cover. It seemed to be some bonus chapters and ideas that Newt decided he didn't want in his famous book, though crafted one just for her to read about herself.
He nodded his head in understanding, gulping thickly when she continued her reading, an uncomfortable silence consuming them. Truthfully, he didn't really know where he stood with Willow, with his foolish comments on her Weird Witchcraft and the fact they're not seeing each other every single day like in school— he wonders if they've drifted apart.
His hands grew clammier at the thought, as his head dizzies. No. He needs Willow on his side, he needs her to be a friend. Willow's their fluffy puff, their badger, their irrevocable kind protector. He needs her.
I snorted at the awkward tension radiating from the boy, causing me to chirp, "Peter, you're making things weird, you know? We're okay, you don't have to be awkward around me unless you've done something incredibly terrible. Then maybe not"
He laughed loudly, apologising quickly when I winced from the level of noise, his head shaking firmly as he replies with a smile,
"Of course not, I wouldn't dare. Not to you anyway. So, what do you think we're here for?"
The group of us had received a lovely stag patronus telling us to come to the Potter manor for dinner, with me already being at home I arrived earlier than everyone else, Remus still at his library shift he's managed to keep somehow and the others i'm presuming still at auror training— Regulus perhaps out buying potion ingredients.
I smiled to myself, briefly glancing towards the hanging calendar besides the window, the date of February 23rd in bold letters, mirroring the dark showers we happened to be experiencing at the moment— the I suppose that's the war's effect also.
"Perhaps James is pregnant, he seemed giddy" I suggested with a hum, returning to my book with Newt writing about his experiences with some of our creatures.
"Pff— wha— we can do that?! Are you being serious right now?" He spluttered, a shadow of confusing covering his face as though i've just revealed an epiphany to him.
"Of course she's not, there's only one of me" Sirius' familiar voice rang as he stepped into the living room, venturing over towards me, tilting my chin up gently and kissing both cheeks, "Taking the opportunity whilst Moony isn't here. Hi, baby"
