𝕿he rest of the Christmas holidays and New Year had flown by and before we knew it, we were all back in the walls of the Hogwarts castle, back to mischief, back to work, back to the lasting fun we had been accustomed to have to uplift everyone's mood with the growing of the dark war baring on everyone's minds.

Nearly everyone in our group was fairly happy to be back and all together, spreading the light through the dark— though there was one person whom I could see a faded glint in their eye, a forced smile on their face. I frowned faintly, glancing to her out of the corner of my eye as we walked to our charms class, James, Sirius and Peter laughing and being the idiots they are a little in front, Remus a little behind them reading a book whilst walking which I was helping guide him at the same time I was keeping my eye on my best friend.

"Re?" I called, a hum leaving his lips in acknowledgement, raising his head out of his book when I didn't answer, glancing back to me and then to Scarlette as she stared blankly, his head nodding, planting a kiss on my forehead, mumbling,

"I'll keep your seat warm"

"Thank you, love" I muttered, sighing gently as he carried on walking, catching up with the other four as I turned back around to Scarlette, her eyebrow raising when I took her hand and pulled her into the broom cupboard we happened to be stood by, the brunette slumping against the wall as a silence consumed us.

She knew Willow knew there was something up, she's always known. She's her best friend, they know each other like the back of their hands, one meaningful glance and they could tell what the other was thinking. She also knew she'd been keeping an eye on her for days and whilst she had been keeping it all bottled up inside, she knew if she wanted to tell someone first it was Willow.

Still, telling Willow wasn't going to be easy no matter how close they were, but she's a patient Hufflepuff, which is why when the first tear slipped down her cheek the veela sat besides her when she slid down the wall to the floor, hugging her body, Willow enveloped her into her arms. She sniffed through he small sobs, burying her face into her neck as she held her back, gripping on for dear life.

"It's okay, you're okay, i've got you" I whispered reassuringly, pressing my lips to the top of her head as she sobbed in my arms, my heart aching massively in my chest, hating seeing her so upset and having no idea how to comfort or make it better..., "When you're ready, Scar, i'm here, okay? Don't feel pressured, whenever you want to tell me it's okay but until then i'll just hold you as long as you want"

"No, no, no....I want to tell you I do. I-I just— saying the words outloud— I......" She sniffed, raising her head and wiping her eyes with the back of her hands, fortunately she decided on not wearing any makeup today, not really feeling like it, which meant she didn't have any awful tear or black marks around her eyes.

"Take your time, there's no rush" I murmured, stroking my hands through her untamed brown locks, stroking my thumbs on the nape of her neck as she looked into my eyes, her chocolate ones glossed over as she took a few deep breaths,
