𝕸ary snorted, exchanging an amused glance with the blonde Hufflepuff across from her in the seats of the library, the both of them spying the way their blonde friend was staring at a certain Ravenclaw not so discreetly.
"Stare much more Marls and she might just gain a hole in her forehead" The cocoa skinned girl teased, causing me to laugh quietly, pausing my Care of Magical creatures drawing of a niffler I was doing for an extra bit on my essay.
I bit my lip, leaning over the blonde when she groaned, my chin resting on her shoulder as I followed her gaze to the black haired girl I knew as Dorcas Meadowes, the eagle proceeding to do her essay obliviously across the section of the library with Xenophilius Lovegood across from her, editing his own version of the newspaper he calls the 'Quibbler'.
"She's quite breath taking" I hummed gently, Marlene leaning her head into mine in agreement as we looked, Mary chuckling,
"Don't let Remus hear you say that"
"Don't even" I groaned with a shake of the head, leaning back from Marlene and setting in my seat again, twirling my quill around my fingers like my wand, her eyebrow raising at my reply, much like Marlene when she finally tore her gaze away and looked to me curiously,
"Trouble in paradise?"
"Mm, I don't know. Things are a little rocky at the minute...a bit tense. But I think that's just the war weighing on his mind, the veela stuff and all. He's more....fragile on the matter than me, he's scared, I mean we all are but he's different. He's got his mum on his mind too....I haven't seen much of him for a few days" I explained quietly with a soft sigh, deciding not to mention our argument a few days prior in which we exchanged words in the shower, but things aren't still perfect like they usually are between us.
"It's only natural, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Rocky, conflict, they're signs of a true relationship, it shouldn't be perfect no matter how in love you are, there's bound to be difficult times. It's how you get through them that matters" Mary returned, my lips twitching from her words, feeling a little relieved as I processed what she said. She was right I suppose.
"You're not the only ones...Potter and little Black were arguing the other day in the hallway, I had to drag glasses away before little Black swung for him" Marlene revealed, my eyebrows raising from the fact, not knowing of that spat between James and Regulus. No one told me.
"I-Is it just me...or does this— it doesn't feel like a group anymore. It feels like we're all divided up, staying out of each other's way" Mary voiced timidly, a silence consuming us as I rested my chin on my hand, the Scottish witch turning to me,
"Come on Willow, you know everything. What do you think?"
"I think Mary's right. I mean I can't remember when we all spent time together except meals. It's been weeks. Even the boys haven't done a prank in a while, everyone's morbid or split up like you said. I don't think it's really helping the idea we're stronger together....." I breathed out, fluttering my eyes closed for a second, chewing on my bottom lip as I fixed my thin rimmed glasses on the edge of my nose.
