𝕺nce again, the date of September the first rolls around, and the platform was buzzing with students excited to go to Hogwarts despite the circumstances of the war growing darker. I would be lying if I said I didn't notice families clinging on to their loved ones with hesitant expressions even though they were looking forward to being with their friends again in the castle.
The following weeks of summer were spent between houses from being whole as a group mostly at the Potter manor, to it just being Scarlette and I with occasionally Sirius and Remus, or just Remus and I at Lupin cottage when he was recovering from the full moon and I was helping him through it until we'd be back at the castle with Madame Pomfrey's extraordinary healing skills for any scars that could be healed further.
I jumped when I heard a small sob, turning my head to where Mia Potter was dabbing a tissue under her eyes as the steam train hooted signalling it was nearly time for us to leave for our final year. James groaned embarrassedly, glaring at Regulus and Sirius when they teased him for it, until they wore blushes of their own when she kissed them on the top of their heads, holding them tightly.
I laughed softly, noticing the twitch in Regulus' lips as she said something quietly in his ear, a look of warmth and belonging covering his once cold and lost orbs, something that Sirius had noticed too from the interaction. I drew my eyes to Remus when I heard him curse under his breath, gripping me tightly to his side, my eyebrows furrowing until I heard icy voices sneer,
"Just wait until I find them....mudblood lovers the lot of them. How dare they steal our children from us"
Remus and I paled, being the only ones to have heard the interaction whilst everyone else was busy saying goodbye to the parents, a shaky breath falling from his lips, nervously glancing to Scarlette and Regulus. It was Scarlette's father and the Black mother I saw initially, wearing hardened looks and glares only intended for people to turn to stone. Surely.
I broke free from Remus' grip, lunging forward and standing in front of the group protectively, snarls on their faces as they peered down at me in disgust,
"Move, harpy" Scarlette's father ordered coolly, my eyebrow quirking as I merely smiled up at the man, cocking my head to the side, and replying,
"Ah, I have to say i'm disappointed, I thought you might have taught Scarlette some of her polite manners, but it looks like she must have done it herself. I believe, please could you brush aside, young Miss Bellamy would have been much more.....persuasive"
"You foul, disgusting little—"
"Again, not how you particularly start a conversation, Walburga" A low voice spoke up from besides me, placing a protective arm around my waist as he stares down at the pale woman, smiles on our faces as their lips curled up in disgust,
"Filthy halfbreeds! How dare you!" She shrieked, catching the attention of the group behind us finally, though I simply clenched my fist behind me to them for them not to intrude on this, our faces remained unimpressed as we spoke in unison,
