"𝕭alderdash. Absolute balderdash" I muttered to myself, curling further into my arm chair, Teddy shuffling on the floor besides me from where he was sleeping on the edge of my blanket.
The Hufflepuff common room was fairly empty, most of the badgers out with their friends on this particular Friday night whereas I was cooped up in the corner of the plant filled room, trying to figure out the nonsense which was my potions homework. Normally, I don't find the subject to be too difficult, but this topic was making me wrack my brain.
The boys were still celebrating Sirius' eighteenth birthday which happened a few days ago, he's not a fan of his true birthday but the days after are okay for him I suppose. Scarlette was somewhere around in the castle, I presume she was napping like a cat in a comfortable spot she'd found, probably Sirius' or her bed. I also assumed Regulus was occupying himself, sometimes he likes to have alone time to switch off from the world, I don't blame him, being around our noisy group can be exhausting if you're not always wanting to be social.
Which is why i'm here, drowning in Remus' sweater with my wand securing my locks in a knot, reading my textbook through my glasses as though they'd instantly help to improve my understanding. Wishful thinking. It's still balderdash to me.
"Slughorn has gone mad, Teddy, he must be retiring soon. Maybe we should gift him some pineapple, might sweeten him up so he won't check this over" I spoke to the snoozing niffler, probably sounding fairly insane myself, a huffed breath falling from my lips.
Enough was enough, i'll ask Regulus about it later. I decided to sketch instead, something that I haven't done in a while with everything going on in the Wizarding World. Another attack on a family last night in Leicestershire, unfortunately leaving a Ravenclaw muggleborn boy in second year an orphan. He left in tears in the morning when Professor Flitwick approached cautiously, the Slytherins having the audacity to smirk and snicker as though they'd accomplished the greatest achievement in the world. Disgusting.
The rest of Hogwarts were on edge, waiting every meal time for the head of house to come over and lead them out of the hall to break the tragic news....it had almost become a routine now. More attacks, more killings. It made me wonder what the older members of the Order are really doing. Alastor Moody, the head auror, he's been in the newspapers for capturing some dark wizards from time to time, Dumbledore was being extremely closed off in his office.
I still hadn't talked to him since I called him a flobberworm and we had that encounter in the corridor. I think he's gathered that maybe I needed a break in case I act reckless and upgrade him to a disgrace of a murtlap.
"Hi, Willow! You look lovely" A first year boy greeted chirpily after wandering into the common room, waving daftly, his friend elbowing him and whispering not so quietly,
"Do you remember her boyfriend is Remus Lupin? Shut up, mate, word gets back to him, you're dead"
"Remus isn't a murderer, Milo, don't worry. I appreciate the compliment though. I think your hair looks handsome today, tried a new style?" I wondered, sending him a smile when his cheeks flushed pink and he froze on the spot, the other boy I know to be Axel beginning to cackle at his frazzled state.
