𝕾carlette exhaled a sharp breath, casting uneasy and concerned glances towards her boyfriend and their friends as their hufflepuff sat stoically, face void of any emotion as she waits.

Patience asks too much of her, Scarlette is sure of it, waiting is too tragic— perhaps more so than the actual event.

They'd been sent for, Remus and Willow, the rest had showed up for support for the couple with the knowledge this was going to be it, the call that Willow had been waiting for with a despairing hope it would never come— then patience ripping it from her mercilessly when it's time.

She'd decided to give the family of three a couple of moments to themselves, Lyall, Hope and Remus, a moment to hold on to, prolonging their inevitable goodbye to become a family of two. Father and son.

The Slytherin girl stands when her honorary godfather appeared at the door with a saddened expression, immediately latching his gaze to the veela who had yet to acknowledge his presence, their presence. They didn't blame her for being silent and reserved, this was the second mother patience was taking from her, life was taking from her.

"Moony and Lyall are up there now with her, they think possibly an hour, maybe less" James informs him quietly, Regulus sliding his hand into his husband's squeezing tightly for some consolation with the knowledge that Hope Lupin had earned a special place in their hearts that couldn't be replaced.

Newt nodded his head whilst processing the information, his heart paining in his chest with a familiarity he'd remembered from a long time ago, eighteen years ago— now back at full force for the friend he'd gotten to make through Willow's connection with the family. He perched down on the seat besides her, delicately raising his hand to brush some of her pearly locks behind her ears, a light sigh escaping him when he noticed her trembling lips.

I raised my head up when the creaking of the stairs alerted me to the presence, the lump in my throat growing larger when a tearful Lyall leaned against the doorway, red eyes settling on me as he voices brokenly,

"Willow, she'd like to say good — she wants to see you"

I nodded my head weakly, grasping the arm of the chair as I stood up, forcing my wobbling legs to carry me forward despite the spurts of fear bursting in my chest. The older wizard squeezed my arm in reassurance when I passed him, plastering on a brave face we all knew was a mask— but allowed him to react in his own way, for him to be able to grieve in his own way when it's time.

The journey up towards their bedroom seemed much longer than it had been before, longer than when I would be excitedly carrying a fresh bunch of orchids, longer than when I would be carrying a new book or a cup of tea for the kind woman when I popped around to visit. Perhaps it was because I wasn't acknowledging it was going to happen, I was still in disbelief, denying any aspect that Hope Lupin was going to leave today. She couldn't, she wouldn't. Surely, she wouldn't?
