~ July 28th ~
(Y/N) had led the entire way to Meteor City. It had taken them just a little under a week to get there.
Though it was no surprise, it had looked exactly the same as she saw the city ten years ago.
"Once we get passed this big dump, we'll reach the actual city", (Y/N) claimed.
"And how much longer is that?", River asked while Carol was assisting him getting his foot unstuck in a hole.
"It'll take around forty minutes. But on the bright side, the sunrises are actually pretty decent here", (Y/N) replied. Taking in a deep sigh, she further replied, "One step at a time".
Almost an hour later, they had finally reached the actual town. The sun had finished rising by now. It hadn't appeared to change all that much since (Y/N) had saw it last. Of course, this wasn't including the giant castle in the distance.
"What the fuck is that..?", (Y/N) questioned.
"What?", Carol questioned.
"Is that a castle over there?", she asked.
"That looks like a castle to me", River replied.
"It looks like it's made of webs", Carol claimed.
"Does the Queen live here?", (Y/N) asked.
"Perhaps a new self-proclaimed one. According to what the Hunter's site claimed, the original one from the beginning of this crisis is from the NGL. This ant is trying to create and control her own reign", Carol explained.
"Everyone here seems on edge.. like, more than usual", (Y/N) stated.
"We definitely don't want to underestimate them. It's likely that the Troupe is already in there", Carol explained.
"So.. stay alert. Got it", she replied.
She could feel her heart begin to race. She had no idea what to expect, whether it would be the worst, or the best. She had done her own research on their journey as an attempt to make herself feel better, yet to her it seemed like it had no effect at all.
As the three of them got closer and closer, they all heard the sounds of fighting from both of who they assumed were spiders and ants. Even so, none of the noises sounded like a four-year-old. The only thing that kept (Y/N) from panicking was the fact that the spiders needed her alive for whatever reason. The waves of aura kept spilling out from the structure, and with determination, they had reached feet away from an entrance where they would be less visible.
"Our best bet is to just find Kalluto and see if she's there with him. Are you guys alright if we spilt?", (Y/N) questioned.
"Let's meet back here in half an hour", River replied.
And surely enough, they split up on their own as quickly, yet as swift as they could.
~ (Y/N)'s POV ~
At this point, I'm just praying. I hated the idea of coming back here just as much as I actually do hate being back here. I just can't say it enough to match with what I'm feeling. It's all too familiar, yet unfamiliar at the same time. It creeps the hell out of me.
"C'mon Max.. where could you be?", I questioned myself.
As I snuck inside the odd castle, I could feel my breath begin to run short just by the size of those creatures. They're not just using nen, but they're using it to a level I didn't think would be possible for them. I guess I understand the big deal about them now..
I don't see Kalluto or Maxine anywhere. This moment is a great chance for me to observe more of the spiders' powers, but I doubt this information would be much help. It's still good to know though. As dangerously fascinating as this may be, I can't afford to be distracted.
And sooner enough, there he was. The elegant boy with an elegant nen ability. It suits him. Who knew that simple white paper could be so deadly? I guess anything can be with the power of nen. Even after finding him, I didn't see Max anywhere near him. I guess I should be grateful that she's distanced from this fight. So.. where is she exactly?
At least the fighting has died down. The spiders won. I can't say that I'm surprised though. After all, they have more experience both in nen and life. Moments after, I felt a something rush towards me and I had barely dodged it in time. It cut a small piece of my hair.
"The hell was that?", I whispered under my breath.
Paper. That's what it was. Kalluto's nen. Why did he do that and how did he see me? This piece of paper is a lot bigger than what I had seen him work with. I unfolded the paper shot at me, and there was a message written with the blue blood of an ant.
"She's no longer in our possession, so don't bother. I'd try the mountain".
What mountain? There's literally no mountain here..
Wait.. as in--?
...
Kukuroo Mountain???
