Chapter 52: See You Soon

"Max..?".

She didn't give a verbal response. Instead, she just looked up at me as I begun to walk closer to her.

"It's ok if you don't, but, do you remember me or have any clue who I am?", I asked her as I squat down to her level.

She shook her head no. I had already suspected that she wouldn't.

"That's alright, you were just a baby last time we saw each other-".

"Do you know how old I am?", she asked.

My eyes had brightened a bit to hear her voice. But also.. why didn't she know her own age? I had a lot of questions to ask her but I wasn't about to bombard her with all of that.

"You're four years old. You will be five years old next month", I answered her.

"What about-?", Maxine questioned before getting cut.

"Sorry to break this, but we need to go now", Killua interupted. "I've pissed him off a lot already, so we have to leave immediately".

Shortly after, Killua and the four of us had gone down by the gates to contact Morel back at the hospital. One of the Butlers named Gotoh was giving him a hard time about Alluka. That somehow ended up with us having escorts. Gotoh has made it very clear that Max is irrelevant to his objective. Killua suggested that Max and I met up with him since he may take a while longer but I insisted that we show up together.

"Since you must accompany me, you'll be making our travel arrangements", Killua had demanded Gotoh. Free transportation is free transportation..

"That's fine, but why does Canary have to be here too?", Gotoh asked as his view was directed to an oddly familiar young female butler.

"You idiot.. Alluka is a girl. A stupid guy like you can't accommodate every one of her needs. Besides, I doubt you would even let (Y/N) assist her since she's not an employee", Killua replied.

"Either way, you wouldn't need to worry about that", a tall woman claimed as she approached us with another girl. "We'd be happy to accompany you Killua dear!".

Oh.. HELL nah. Respectfully Killua, I never want to visit your house for the holidays. Both your family and butlers freak me out.

"Master Silva didn't believe that the two of you would suffice, so he sent Amane and I in order to ease his mind", the tall butler further explained.

So Killua said her name was Tsubone.. and she's a whole lot taller up close. And very threatening.

Canary and I kept glancing over at each other. I recognized her from before, and it was clear that she recognized me, so I can't be going crazy. Our brief attention towards each other had ended once we heard one of Alluka's demands.

"Can I have your fingernail please? The pinky one?", she asked Tsubone.

Holy shit.. I knew this was crazy but this is crazy. But I just have to pretend like this is normal?? From hearing the rules explained by Silva earlier, I understand why Tsubone just.. casually gave Alluka her fingernail like that.

We ended up in a car on its way down the mountain while I sat in the front with Max, and Canary driving while everyone else was in the back.  We couldn't really hear much of what they were talking about in the back, but it seemed like it was nothing to worry about.
