It was dark by now, the moon in they sky being one of their only lights. Y/n was exhausted, and annoyed. They had been searching for hours, and only came up empty handed. The three of them hardly spoke the entire time, it was too awkward and tense.

Y/n finally sighed "How much longer are we gonna do this?" She asked.

"Until we find this thing." Jonathan muttered, neither of them noticing that Nancy had stopped walking.

Y/n looked back and saw Nancy, she raised a brow "Nance?" She asked.

Jonathan also stopped looking back "What, are you tired?" He asked.

"Yes." Y/n answered without hesitation.

"Shut up." Nancy said with a look on her face, almost like she heard or saw something.

"What?" Jonathan asked a little caught off guard.

"I heard something." Nancy said nervously.

And thats when Y/n heard it. It was some sort of whimpering, it almost sounded like an animal of some sort. Frowning Y/n pulled out her gun, and began walking towards the sound hesitantly.

"Y/n, what are you doing!" Nancy hissed as she followed after the girl, Jonathan trailing behind.

"Uhm, going to see what the hell that was." Y/n answered as she followed the whimpering sound.

The whimpering got more and more louder, the closer they got. Y/n then caught sighed of a deer, that was whimpering and writhing in pain as it beld out. Nancy let out a gasp, and covered her mouth "Oh my god." She whispered crouching next to it.

"Thats a terrible idea." Y/n mumbled staying away from it, her eyes scanning the marks on the animal.

"It's been hit by a car." Nancy whispered reaching out to touch it, as the deer let out a whine.

"Looks like it a mauled." Y/n said frowning "This does not look like a car hit it."

"We can't just leave it." Nancy said looking back at the two.

"Hey, circle of life." Y/n said with a shrug, frowns as she stared at the poor creature.

Nancy took a deep breath, lifting her gun and aiming it at the deer. Jonathan let out a sigh "I'll do it." He said, holding his hand out for the gun.

"Poor bambi's mom." Y/n whispered frowning.

"I thought you said-"

"I'm not nine anymore." Jonathan said confidently, cutting Nancy off and taking the gun from her gently.

The two of them stood up, and stepped back fron the deer. Jonathan held the gun up, and let out a breath. He cocked the gun and waited a minute, it was obvious how hesitant he was. The deer continued to whimper and cry, completely helpless. Y/n could handle the sound anymore, she pushed the two out of the way and shot the deer. Killing it.

"Y/n, what the hell." Nancy said looking at her.

"I couldn't handle the sound anymore." Y/n said shaking her head "And it was suffering."

Before someone could utter another word, the deers corpse was yanked away from them. The three of them gasped, and Y/n jumped back into Jonathan her eyes wide.

"What was that?" Nancy asked her eyes wide as she held the flashlight where the deer used to be.

"Definitely not a car." Y/n chuckled shakily hoping it would lighten the mood.

"Should we follow it?" Jonathan asked.

Y/n looked at him and laughed taking a step away from him "Your kidding right?" She asked.
