Jessie POV
"Mom!" Joslyn, my daughter, yelled.
"Huh?" I grunted.
"What are you doing in bed? We have to go!" Joslyn exclaimed.
Why was she screaming at me?
Didn't she realize I hadn't fallen asleep until after 4am?
I groaned.
Irritated at Joslyn for jolting me awake with her screams and more irritated at Riker for not being here.
I grabbed my phone and looked at the time.
It was 7:30am.
There is no reason for Joslyn to be up this early.
It started at 4 o'clock, and they'd have to leave at 3pm.
"Mom!"
I looked up at my daughter. Her brown eyes widened, and she took half a step back from me.
"I have cheer camp this week," Joslyn said softly.
"Shit!" I exclaimed, jumping out of bed and running to the bathroom.
"Jos, go eat something. I will be ready in five minutes."
I saw Joslyn leave the room.
I returned to my bedroom and grabbed my shorts and a tee shirt.
I forgot all about cheer camp.
Then, cursing myself for being so forgetful, I went downstairs and flicked on the coffee.
"Mom, we have to go," Joslyn reminded me.
I looked over at her for the first time this morning.
She stood at five foot and eight inches, and she was the spitting image of Riker, except the female version. Tall, curvy (Riker wasn't curvy), sharp cheekbones, and slender.
Joslyn wore her hair long with blonde highlights, some natural and some unnatural. She wore black leggings and a red crop top that showed too much of her stomach. She'd grown into a beautiful young woman and intelligent too. Although she'd rather talk with her friends and socialize, like her father, Joslyn had a lot going for her.
"You look like shit."
I looked to the right of Joslyn, and her twin sister, Janis, stood in the doorway. They looked exactly alike. That is where the similarities ended. Janis wore her hair darker, more natural, and not as long. She didn't follow the latest trends and dressed more relaxed and comfortably, often in jeans and a tee shirt. This morning she wore a pair of basketball shorts and a white tank top covering her stomach.
Janis and Joslyn were brilliant, but they used it differently.
Janis took her studies seriously. She was on the honor roll in high school and would graduate at the top of her class. Joslyn cared less about school and more about popularity, boys, and having a good time. She was into the latest trends and on the cheer squad.
It amazed me how different the two were. Janis had a couple of good friends, whereas Joslyn had many friends. Janis didn't have a boyfriend or seemed very interested in any boys at school. Joslyn had a new boyfriend every week. Janis was a homebody. She liked to read and play her violin. Joslyn would rather be out with her friends or singing. The girls were quite different, but both were highly gifted in music.
All three of our children were musically inclined. A trait they inherited from their father. They could sing and play multiple instruments.
Joslyn played piano and liked to sing. Janis played the bass, drums, and violin and could also sing. Our son Jamey was also gifted with musical talent and played the guitar and drums and sang.
