Janis' POV
I stretched and smacked Wesley in the face. His eyes popped open in shock.
"Jesus, Wesley! I didn't know you were right there! I'm sorry," I said, moving to my side to look at him. "Are you okay?"
"The question is, do you feel better?" He asked.
"I think so," I said.
My headache was gone, my throat wasn't on fire, and my body didn't ache anymore.
"Good," he said and gave me a quick squeeze. "I was worried."
I felt touched that he cared so much.
"You were out of it. It was scary," Wesley admitted.
"Is the storm over?" I asked, sitting up.
"Janis, it hasn't snowed in two days."
"Two days?" I exclaimed.
Wesley nodded. "You were very sick. The doctor said it was strep throat. I didn't know strep could knock a person out that hard."
"I used to get strep and throat infections when I was little. They were nasty," I said.
Wesley nodded. Getting up, he grabbed a bottle of water and my medication. "That's what Rocky said. You have to take your meds."
"You talked to Rocky? How's Riker? Is he..."
"Riker is fine. They think he had an anxiety attack," I said.
"He's fine?" I asked, shocked.
"Yes, he's home and everything," Wesley said.
"I thought for sure he was dead," I mumbled, taking the pills and drinking half the water bottle.
Wesley nodded. "I know, you kept asking about him, even after I told you I talked to Rocky."
"How's Jamey?" I asked, thinking about my brother.
"He's the same," Wesley said.
I nodded. "Riker is really okay?"
"Yes."
"I need to talk to him," I said.
"Here," Wesley handed me my phone. "I charged it for you."
I stared at him in amazement. This guy took care of me while I was sick.
I took my phone and called Riker.
"Janis? How are you feeling?" Riker's voice filled my ears. Tears filled my eyes. "I'm feeling better. How are you?"
"I'm okay, honey," He said.
The tears fell from my eyes.
"I was so worried," I said, wiping my face.
"I'm sorry I worried you. Are you feeling better?" He asked.
"Yes," I said and yawned. "Not a hundred percent yet, but I do feel better."
"Good," Riker said. "I'll see you when you get home. Be careful."
"We will," I said.
I set my phone on the bed and let the tears fall.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Wesley asked, touching my shoulder.
"I was so scared he would die, and my parents..." I lost it. The tears came in full force. Wesley gathered me in his arms and gently rubbed my back.
"It's okay," He whispered.
I sobbed, my body shaking as the tears fell.
"Shhh!" Wesley tried to comfort me. "He's okay."
I don't know how long I cried, but Wesley held me the whole time. When no more tears would come, I shifted, and he let me go, keeping his arm around my shoulder.
